TV GORD’S WHAT’S ON FOR THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 21-27, 2016

Tributes to Ray Charles, Fats Domino, Disneyland and consistently brilliant sitcom director James Burrows highlight a week of February sweeps goodies! Also, the return of HBO’s Girls and Togetherness.

Sunday

The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60 – 8 to 10pm on ABC
Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the California park, featuring Elton John, Tori Kelly, Jessie J, Kelsea Ballerini Josh Gad, Harrison Ford, dancer Maddie Ziegler. and special guest Dick Van Dyke. Derek Hough hosts.
CBC Winnipeg Comedy Festival – 9pm on CBC – Season Premiere
Another season of standup comedy from Winnipeg, kicking off with a focus on growing old in the 21st century.
Must See TV: An All-Star Tribute to James Burrows – 9 to 11pm on NBC
You’ve probably been hearing about this special for a while. It’s the one with the Friends reunion that isn’t really a Friends reunion. Five of the six are at this tribute, but Matthew Perry is performing in a play in England, so he videotaped a message to Burrows, who is one of the most prolific sitcom directors in television. Other casts getting together for the celebration of his 1000th episode include Cheers, Frasier, Will & Grace, Taxi, The Big Bang Theory, Wings, Mike & Molly, Two and a Half Men and Crowded.

Countdown to the Brit Awards – 6 to 8pm on E!

Britain’s music awards, with performances by Adele, Coldplay, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd and more.

Thursday

Clipped – 10:30pm on Comedy – Series Premiere
The creators of Will & Grace unleash this sitcom set in a Boston barbershop. Ashley Tisdale stars as Danni, who finds herself working with several of her classmates from high school, most of whom were NOT friends. George Wendt goes from a Boston bar (Cheers) to this Boston barbershop, playing Buzzy, the owner.

In Performance at the White House: Smithsonian Salutes Ray Charles – 9pm on PBS
Yolanda Adams, Leon Bridges, Andra Day, Anthony Hamilton, Brittany Howard, Demi Lovato, Sam Moore, Jussie Smollett, The Band Perry and Usher perform their versions of classic Ray Charles songs.
American Masters: Fats Domino – 10pm on PBS
Ain’t That A Shame…that this profile of the ’50s sensation wasn’t made when he was still alive.
