TV Gord’s WHAT’S ON for the week of March 24th to 30th, 2019

With CBS dominating prime time through March Madness, many shows are in reruns this week, but there are a few highlights, including the return of Into the Badlands, Power, and Christopher Meloni’s Happy!, a new sitcom called Abby’s, and the final season of Jane the Virgin. Happy viewing!

All times eastern; PBS schedules may vary.

Sunday

Paranormal 911 – 8 to 9pm on T+E – Series Premiere

This reality series combines the excitement of first responders’ days and nights with the world of the supernatural. In the opener, an EMT worker is followed by a dark entity after attending a suicide; an empty school is emitting ghostly sounds; and a paramedic has a terrifying experience inside the morgue of an abandoned hospital.

Action – 8 to 9pm on Crave – Series Premiere

This four-part series examines the effects of the 2018 ruling legalizing sports gambling.

Into the Badlands – 10:25 to 11:27pm on AMC – 3rd Mid-Season Premiere

There’s another episode in its regular time slot on Monday at 10pm.

Monday

Hudson & Rex – 8 to 9pm on City – Series Premiere

Detective Charlie Hudson is paired with a K9 counterpart to investigate crimes in this police drama.

The Murders – 9 to 10pm on City – Series Premiere

Rookie homicide detective Kate Jameson runs into a domino effect of problems when her service weapon is stolen.

Women, War & Peace – 9 to 11pm (two episodes) on PBS – 2nd Season Premiere

Knightfall – 10 to 11pm on History – 2nd Season Premiere

Wednesday

Jane the Virgin – 9 to 10:01pm on The CW – 5th and Final Season Premiere

Damned – 9 to 9:30pm on Superchannel Fuse – Series Premiere

This British sitcom is set in the office of Children’s Services in the department of Social Services. There’s a combination of comedy and drama in the stories of the stressed social workers and the frustrating cases of trying to do what’s best for the poor children.

Million Dollar Mile – 9:01 to 10:01pm on CBS – Series Premiere

Tim Tebow, Matt “Money” Smith and Maria Taylor co-host this obstacle course competition series that gives contestants a two-minute head start to compete against a group of elite athletes. Sounds exhausting. I’ll be on the couch with a bag of Cheesies watching something else, thanks.

Power – 9 to 11:05pm on Starz – 2nd Season Premiere

Thursday

Abby’s – 9:30 to 10pm on NBC/Global – Series Premiere

Creators Michael Schur (The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Parks and Recreation) and Josh Malmuth (Superstore, New Girl) spearhead this comedy series about a San Diego bar with a difference. It’s not really a bar at all. It’s set up in Abby’s back yard. A strict set of rules keep this illegal operation under the radar, until…something happens in the opener to put everything at risk.

Happy! – 10 to 11pm on Showcase – 2nd Season Premiere
