TV Gord’s WHAT’S ON for the week of May 19th to 25th, 2019

All times eastern.

May sweeps draw to a close on Wednesday, so CBS is wedging in a Carpool Karaoke special on Monday night; then—just under the wire—ABC attempts an experiment, re-staging classic episodes of All In the Family and The Jeffersons with new all-star casts. And, it’s LIVE! Action and thrills accompany two new dramas, Blood and Treasure and George Clooney’s Catch-22; and fans of Elementary can see Holmes’ and Watson’s final 13 adventures starting this Thursday. Monday

Beat Shazam – 8 to 9pm on Fox/Wednesday at 8pm on City – 3rd Season Premiere

The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Prime Time Special 2019 – 9 to 10pm on CBS

James Corden’s annual special, highlighting his celebrated Carpool Karaoke segments, highlighted by a brand new one for this special with Celine Dion.

Tuesday

Blood & Treasure – 9 to 11pm on CBS/Global – Series Premiere

This action-adventure series centres on a cunning art thief who teams up with a brilliant antiquities expert who travel the globe to catch a ruthless terrorist who uses stolen treasure to fund his attacks.

Catch-22 – 10 to 11pm on City – Series Premiere

This six-part satirical dark comedy (based on the novel) stars Christopher Abbott, Kyle Chandler, Hugh Laurie, and George Clooney. This premiere episode is the only one that will air on City, though. All six episodes are available on May 18th on Citytv.com, on demand, and on the CityTV app.

Wednesday

Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s All in the Family and The Jeffersons – 8 to 9:31pm on ABC

Woody Harrelson and Marisa Tomei as Archie and Edith Bunker? Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes as George and “Weezy” Jefferson? Jimmy Kimmel and Norman Lear have collaborated to bring classic episodes of these iconic 1970s sitcoms to a live stage for one night. Other stars include Ike Barinholtz and Ellie Kemper as Mike and Gloria, Sean Hayes as Frank Lorenzo, Anthony Anderson as Henry Jefferson, Will Ferrell and Kerry Washington as Tom and Helen Willis, Jovan Adepo and Amber Stevens West as Lionel and Jenny, Justina Machado as Florence, Stephen Tobolowsky as Mr. Bentley, and Jackée Harry as Louise’s new (but not for long) friend, Diane Stockwell.

NOTE: This special will be followed by a special called, All About All In the Family and The Jeffersons from 9:31 to 10pm.
