TV GORD’S WHAT’S ON FOR THE WEEK OF May 22-28, 2016

The long-awaited AMC adaptation of the comic book, Preacher, highlights the first week of post-May-sweeps, along with game shows aplenty, The Bachelorette and Jason Priestly’s new Canadian series, Private Eyes.

Sunday

Preacher – 10pm to 11:30 on AMC – Series Premiere

Jesse Custer is a one-time outlaw who returns to his Texas home to take over his dead father’s church. However, a strange force releases a highly unconventional power within him that sends him on another mission. The series is based on Garth Ennis’ and Steve Dillon’s popular 1990s comic book franchise of the same name and mixes the same proportion of dark humour.

Monday

The Price Is Right Prime Time Special – 8pm on CBS/City

Survivor castaways Natalie Anderson, Joe Anglim, Rupert Boneham, Jeremy Collins, Cirie Fields, Woo Hwang, Rob Mariano, Kelley Wentworth and Tina Wesson play alongside super fans of TPIR.

Whose Line Is It Anyway? – 4th Season Premiere

Host Aisha Tyler and regulars Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie welcome guests Gary Anthony Williams and Alfonso Robeiro to their 4th season opener.

The Bachelorette – 9:01 to 11pm on ABC/City – 12th Season Premiere

Former Bachelorettes offer advice to their new counterpart, JoJo.

Tuesday

Hotel Hell – 8pm on Fox – 3rd Season Premiere

Chef Gordon Ramsey opens a new season of offering his harsh critiques to struggling hotels across America.

Wednesday

Wayward Pines – 9pm on Fox/City – 2nd Season Premiere

The people of Wayward Pines struggle against the new First Generation, while a resident emerges from suspended animation to help the human race.

Thursday

500 Questions – 8 to 10pm on ABC – 2nd Season Premiere

Jeopardy champion Ken Jennings kicks off this unique game show that airs weeknights (including Friday, Saturday and next week on Tuesday and Wednesday). Good Morning America and Nightline anchor Dan Harris takes over the hosting duties from the departing CNN journalist Richard Quest.

Private Eyes – 9pm on Global – Series Premiere

Jason Priestly stars as a former athlete who joins forces with a private investigator (Cindy Sampson, who played the recurring role of Lisa Braedon on Supernatural) to form a likely team of sleuths.

Red Nose Day – 9 to 11pm on NBC
