What’s coming to Hollywood Suite this May!

This May Hollywood Suite calls up cinema’s greatest detectives in Mystery May and holds no punches with our Fight Club collection of new & classic movies running On Demand and On Air throughout the month. Here are five must watch options this month:

Fight Club – Catch the best Fight Scenes from film history

All month long we’re showcasing the wildest, funniest and most brutal fight scenes committed to film. From martial arts classics like Bruce Lee’s Fist of Fury (1972) or Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung’s Wheels on Meals (1984) to the explosive and hilarious The Last Boy Scout (1991) Charlie’s Angels (2000) and Shaun of The Dead (2004). Watch all month long but tune in specifically May 21st on HS90 for a high-kicking celebration of 90s Jean-Claude Vandamme with a triple bill including Maximum Risk (1996), Double Impact (1991) and the Hollywood Suite premiere of Hard Target (1993).

Ali & Ava (2021) – An overlooked Romance

This romantic comedy didn’t get the audience it deserved when it premiered in lockdown but this story of two middle-aged Brits finding an unlikely relationship in spite of their complicated lives is a huge crowd-pleaser. TV fans will likely recognize Adeel Akhtar (Utopia, The Big Sick) and Claire Rushbrook (Home Fires, My Mad Fat Diary) but this role allows them to wonderfully explore the joys and pains of trying to start a relationship with baggage in tow.

Mystery May – Hollywood’s most thrilling

Nothing draws you into a movie like a good mystery and all month long we’ve got the clues you’re looking for to head down the rabbit hole. Watch The Maltese Falcon (1941), The Conversation (1974) , Deathtrap (1982) , Double Jeopardy (1999) and Prisoners (2013) as well as many more On Demand and On Air.

The 40th Anniversary of Hardbodies (1984)

Perhaps the Crown Jewel of ‘Movies That Couldn’t Be Made Today’ (shouldn’t?), 1984’s Hardbodiesis cruising into middle age this month along with most of the 1980s sex comedy boom. While this film, originally produced for the Playboy channel but released theatrically, features plenty of sleaze keep an eye out for some of the biggest ladies in ’80s Glam Metal as the band Vixen performs ‘Computer Madness’ between the jokes.

Orson Welles Birthday – May 6th

While Orson Welles may have been born over a century ago, his films still prove why he was one of the most memorable prodigies in Hollywood. Take a crash course in the master with a birthday Triple-bill including the iconic Citizen Kane (1941), the moving The Magnificent Ambersons (1942) and the deceptive F is for Fake (1973) on HS70.
