1G5G, Dawson, Robyn, and Gaga, OH MY! The 2011 NewNowNext Awards, April 11 on MTV

The most outrageous, cutting edge award show of the year is here…and MTV has it! It’s a dynamic and energetic night where music and television’s newest, brightest, and most buzzed about stars gather for an award show controlled by the fans. 1 GIRL 5 GAYS lovers can tune in to see if MTV Canada’s tell-all series sweeps viewer votes for the TV You Betta Watch category. The 2011 NEWNOWNEXT AWARDS air on Monday, April 11 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

In its fourth year, the NewNowNext Awards are the only awards show crowning stars before they hit it big. This year, the show is hosted by James Van Der Beek a.k.a. Dawson Leary. And if that doesn’t get the heart pumping, the show is headlined by Swedish sweetheart Robyn, showcasing her chic, electro-pop style.

Music sensation Lady Gaga, who received her start on the NewNowNext Awards in 2008, is due to receive the Always Next, Forever Now award. This honour pays tribute to a pop icon paving the way for the stars of tomorrow. Past winners include Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, and Paula Abdul. With her dedicated work in the LGBT community and commitment to find the inner-superstar in everyone, Lady Gaga proves why she is the perfect recipient. The 2011 NEWNOWNEXT AWARDS also feature appearances by Natalia Kills, Wynter Gordon, Oh Land, and more.

Host of 1 GIRL 5 GAYS, MTV Canada’s own Aliya-Jasmine Sovani catches all the backstage action as she chats with winners and performers throughout the show. Log on to mtv.ca on Monday to catch all the excitement!

1 GIRL 5 GAYS has been a hit with both Canadian and American audiences. Since Logo began airing the MTV Canada original series south of the border in October 2010, it has become one of the network’s most-talked about shows. The series brings together host Aliya-Jasmine Sovani with a panel of five gay men for frank, funny, and often fierce discussions on a variety of topics. The alternating panel of gay men, chosen for their honesty, individuality, and confidence, never shy away from the outrageous or anything remotely taboo. Conversations revolve around everything from masturbation, Madonna, and matrimony to embarrassing erections, coming out, and childhood experiences.

1G5G airs Fridays at 11 p.m. ET on MTV. Catch up on past episodes at mtv.ca. Catch an encore presentation of the 2011 NEWNOWNEXT AWARDS on Tuesday, April 12 at 1 a.m. ET/PT.
