Carly Rae Jepsen, Fun., and Rita Ora to make their EMA Debut at the 2012 MTV EMA

MTV announced that Canadian sweetheart and nominee Carly Rae Jepsen, fun., and Rita Ora – three of the hottest emerging acts in music today – will each make their EMA debut with performances at the “2012 MTV EMA.” These three were identified earlier this year as MTV PUSH acts (MTV’s initiative that recognizes the most promising artists on the brink of becoming global superstars), and they’ve already set the music industry afire. Jepsen’s smash hit “Call Me Maybe” achieved the No. 1 spot in 47 countries and has sold an incredible 10 million singles worldwide, and her new album “KISS” debuted at No. 1 in Japan and in the top 5 in 15 countriesfun.’s hit song “We Are Young” was in the top 10 in airplay in nearly 30 territories and sold more than 8.5 million copies worldwide. Rita Ora’s debut album “Ora” went straight to No. 1 on the UK charts and has already achieved Gold status; she’s the only artist this year to have three consecutive No. 1’s in the UK.

These three talented newcomers join previously announced performers Taylor Swift, Muse and No Doubt. Hosted by supermodel, entrepreneur and hometown girl Heidi Klum, the 19th annual awards show will broadcast live from Frankfurt’s historic Festhalle on Sunday, 11th November at 9PM CET* on MTV channels around the world, and is sponsored by partners such as Microsoft and Replay.

“This will be my first time at the MTV EMA, and I am beyond thrilled – feeling like a lucky duck for the nominations and the chance to perform,” said Carly Rae Jepsen. “Now the only concern is what to wear?! Let the party begin, Frankfurt.”

“It’s so incredible that we’ll be playing at the MTV EMA, when not that long ago not many people knew who we were in Europe!” said fun. “It just feels like that dream most people don’t get to experience.”

Rita Ora said: “I’m so excited to be part of the 2012 MTV EMA! And to be nominated is incredible – let’s have some fun this year!”

Jepsenfun. and Ora have each been nominated for Best PUSH and Best New, while Jepsen and fun. are also up for Best Song. As previously announced,Rihanna and Taylor Swift top the list of the “2012 MTV EMA” nominees with six and five nods, respectively, with Justin Bieber and Katy Perry following closely behind with four nominations each. Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, Nicki Minaj, Jay Z and Kanye West each received three EMA nominations, while Green Day,Gotye, Pitbull, Flo Rida, Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Jack White and One Direction are up for two awards. MTV will announce additional EMA performers and presenters at a later date.
