The Most Outrageous Night in Film Celebrates its 20th Anniversary 2011 MTV MOVIE AWARDS Airs June 5

The Golden Popcorn is almost ready as the movie event of the summer – the 2011 MTV MOVIE AWARDS – returns Sunday, June 5 at 9 p.m. ET on MTV. Hosted by SNL funnyman Jason Sudeikis, the show broadcasts live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. On the North side of the border, MTV MOVIE NIGHT host Johnny Hockin holds things down during the broadcast with live hits from the Masonic Temple in Toronto.

Announced today is ACADEMY AWARD® winning Reese Witherspoon is set to be honoured as recipient of the MTV Generation Award. Also announced today is that Twi-hards can get their first-look into the upcoming Twilight installment, with a special sneak-peek of Breaking Dawn Part 1.

MTV fans have the chance to be a part of the event through multi-platform interaction with Hockin, as seven lucky Virgin Mobile Members get the VIP treatment, joining Johnny for an in-studio screening party as he broadcasts live from the Masonic Temple. Viewers at home can interact with Hockin using MTV’s first ever co-viewing mobile app, MTV Social. And the all-access pass doesn’t stop there. Viewers tuning in to the repeat of the season finale of THE REAL WORLD: LAS VEGAS on Sunday get an exclusive peek at some of the hottest stars strutting on the 2011 MTV MOVIE AWARDS red carpet during live hits throughout the episode. The encore presentation of the season finale of THE REAL WORLD: LAS VEGAS, and the 2011 MTV MOVIE AWARDS live red carpet hits begin on Sunday, June 5 at 8 p.m. ET.

As previously announced, the coveted golden popcorn is set to be handed out by some of the biggest names in the biz today including Canadian Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Steve Carell, Emma Stone, Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Patrick Dempsey, Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, Jesse Eisenberg, Aziz Ansari, Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez, Leighton Meester, and more. The 2011 MTV MOVIE AWARDS is set to feature mind-blowing performances from legendary rockers the Foo Fighters and a first time ever collaboration between Lupe Fiasco and R & B star Trey Songz.
