Corus Entertainment’s Sundance Channel (Canada) announces the premiere of the new comedy-drama series Babylon from Academy Award® winner Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 28 days Later, Trainspotting). The series gives viewers a unique and satirical look into the inner settings of a U.K. police department. Babylon premieres Thursday, March 5 at 10 p.m. ETon Sundance Channel (Canada).
The series follows Public Relations Maven Liz Garvey (Marling) who steps into the publicity department at London’s largest police force and encounters Police Commissioner Richard Miller (Nesbitt) who conflicts her department and legal bureaucracy. Babylon presents the relationship between the media and the government in a humorous way with the mix of drama brought by the strain of home and work life.
The cast includes Brit Marling (Another Earth, Sound of My Voice), James Nesbitt (The Hobbit, Millions), Paterson Joseph (Aeon Flux, Peep Show), Nicola Walker (Beyond the Gates), Jonny Sweet (Him & Her), Bertie Carvel (Les Misérables), Ella Smith (The Voices), Jill Halfpenny (How to stop being a loser), Adam Deacon (Kidulthood, Adulthood), Cavan Clerkin (Nice Guy), Nick Blood (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Andrew Brooke (Sherlock Holmes, Jack the Giant Slayer), Daniel Kaluuya (Kick-Ass 2, Johnny English Reborn), and Owain Arthur (The Patrol).

Babylon consists of six one-hour episodes and is created and executive produced by Danny Boyle, Robert Jones (The Usual Suspects, Dirty Pretty Things), Jesse Armstrong (In the Loop) and Sam Bain (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood), and produced by Jones and Derrin Schlesinger (This Is England ’86, Four Lions, Southcliffe). Jon S. Baird (Filth) directs episodes 1-3, with award-winning newcomer Sally El Hosaini (My Brother the Devil) directing episodes 4-6. BAFTA-winner Jon Brown (Misfits, Fresh Meat) joins the writing team for two episodes.
