The Second half of September marks the return of the Fall TV Season- for the first time in 2 years, new & returning network shows will premiere in their usual time frame (late September / early October). The new season kicks off the week of September 20 with the premiere of 10 new series and the return of over 20 fan favourites. In addition, Fantasy Island concludes its current season and Brooklyn Nine-Nine ends its run after 8 seasons.
On the specialty and streaming front, the next 2 weeks see the premiere of 9 new series and the return of Back to Life, Creepshow, Doom Patrol, Goliath, The Morning Show, Sex Education, Tacoma FD and Victoria. New series premiering in the next two weeks include Acorn TV’s new dramedy Finding Alice, Apple TV+’s new Sci-fi drama Foundation, Disney+’s new anthology series Star Wars: Visions, FX’s new Post apocalyptic drama Y: The Last Man, HBO’s new miniseries Scenes from A Marriage, Netflix’s new limited Horror series Midnight Mass, Paramount+’s new animated comedy The Harper House, Peacock’s new limited series Crime drama Dr. Death (airing on Showcase) and Showtime’s new drama American Rust. In addition, Corner Gas Animated and Slasher: Flesh & Blood conclude their current season.
Other highlights include the premiere of FOX’s new reality series Alter Ego, a singing competition where contestants perform as their favourite avatar and Food Network’s new competition series Top Chef Family Style, a spin-off of the popular reality series Top Chef. On the reality front, summer favourites America’s Got Talent, American Ninja Warrior, Hell’s Kitchen, Lego Masters and MasterChef conclude their current season while Dancing with the Stars, Survivor and The Masked Dancer return with an all-new season. Also, the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards air September 12 and the 73rd Emmy Awards air September 19.
