Presenters Announced For The 25th Annual Gemini Awards Gala

Hot on the heels of the announcement revealing Glee’s Cory Monteith as host of the 25th Annual Gemini Awards, Global and Showcase, along with the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television proudly welcome a robust lineup of A-list talent eager to celebrate the nominees.

The special presenters confirmed to date include Grace Park from this fall’s #1 new series, Hawaii Five-0; the cast of the #1 new Canadian drama series, Rookie Blue with Missy Peregrym, Gregory Smith, Enuka Okuma, Charlotte Sullivan and Travis Milne; Dan For Mayor’s Fred Ewanuick; Republic of Doyle’s Allan Hawco; Flashpoint’s Enrico Colantoni; Lost Girl’s Anna Silk; and Canada’s ice dance champions from the 2010 Winter Olympics, Gold Medalists Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir.

“Canada is teeming with incredible talent and they’re coming to celebrate at the Geminis,” said Christine Shipton, SVP, Drama and Factual Content, Shaw Media. “With all the glitz and glamour, this gala evening is going to be a phenomenal night for Canadian audiences nationwide as we celebrate our television industry.”

The Gemini Awards will be broadcast live Saturday, November 13 – 8pm on Global and Showcase. This year’s broadcast will be preceded by glittering red carpet arrivals featuring some of Canada’s biggest names in television.

“The Gemini Awards is a celebration of excellence as well as a tribute to the collegiality that strengthens and reinforces our community,” said Sara Morton, CEO of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television. “This year’s presenters hail from some of the year’s best TV shows and we are honoured and excited by their enthusiasm and support for their peers.”

TV lovers across the country can continue to vote for their favourite Canadian series from the last 25 years at www.favetvshow.ca. Compiled by a group of seasoned television critics, these shows encompass drama, comedy, reality and lifestyle genres. Voting concludes on Wednesday, November 3 when the results will be tallied. Special guests will present the countdown of Canada’s favourite TV shows throughout the broadcast.

Launched by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television in 1986, the 25th Annual Gemini Awards will bring together Canada’s most gifted performers, craftspeople, producers and decision-makers over several evenings of special events.
