Montgomery’s final heat was watched on average by 2.2 million viewers, peaking as he was announced the winner at 11:33 p.m. ET. Earlier, 4.4 million viewers watched Mellisa Hollingsworth’s fifth place finish in the same sport. After Day 8, 96.7% of the population – or 32.4 million Canadians – have engaged with Vancouver 2010 coverage, according to Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium’s CUME index.

– Over eight days, OLYMPIC PRIME TIME is averaging 5.15 million viewers, while OLYMPIC DAYTIME averages 3.63 million and OLYMPIC MORNING 1.1 million.
– The 31.86 million Canadians who have watched Vancouver 2010 on television so far have viewed an average of 21.5 hours of coverage.
– Teens aged 12-17 are becoming some of the most avid consumers of Vancouver 2010 coverage. Yesterday, 75.4% of Teens 12-17 watched some Consortium coverage, one of the highest reaches of any demo.
– TSN saw million-plus audiences for Men’s Curling (CAN/DEN, 1.4 million viewers) and Figure Skating (Ice Dance: Compulsory Dance, 1.3 million viewers).
– 606,000 viewers watched the Czech Republic defeat Latvia 5-2 in Men’s Hockey on Rogers Sportsnet.
– JEUX OLYMPIQUES AUX HEURES DE GRANDE ÉCOUTE delivered 496,000 viewers for V/CPAC, RDS and RIS, while JEUX OLYMPIQUES EN JOURNÉE was watched by 393,000 viewers.

· Day 8 brought yet another 10 million + page views to CTVOlympics.ca and RDSolympiques.ca.
· There were more than 1.6 million video views on Day 8, bringing the total number of videos watched online to 14 million.
· Hockey continues to dominate on demand video viewing. Highlights from Canada vs. Switzerland Men’s Hockey is the most-watched video from Day 8, followed by highlights from Canada vs. Sweden Women’s Hockey, representing almost 200,000 video views. The third most-watched video was Jon Montgomery’s gold medal run in Skeleton.
· Curlers continue to be the most-viewed athlete profiles on the sites with Team Canada Curling Skips Cheryl Bernard, Kevin Martin and recently-benched US Skip John Shuster all making the list. Rounding out the list are Canadians Mellisa Hollingsworth (Skeleton) and Patrick Chan (Figure Skating).
· Audiences continue to network online with almost 9,000 interactions this week alone on CTV Olympics Facebook Fan page. In addition, there are hundreds of interactions each day through main Twitter accounts @CTVOlympics and @RDSolympiques, and additional sport-specific accounts. Social media sites account for tens of thousands of referrals to CTVOlympics.ca and RDSolympiques.ca each day.
