New series, documentaries, and specials that begin streaming in August include:
- This month from SHOWTIME: new episodes of THE AFFAIR, starring Joshua Jackson, Maura Tierney, Dominic West, and Ruth Wilson, continue to stream Sundays at 9 p.m. ET, with Season 4 concluding August 19; Sacha Baron Cohen’s comedy series WHO IS AMERICA?, which is making headlines in Canada and throughout the world, continues to stream with new episodes Sundays at 10 p.m. ET; OUR CARTOON PRESIDENT, Stephen Colbert’s animated comedy series about the tru-ish misadventures of President Donald J. Trump, continues Sundays at 10:30 p.m. ET; and IF I LEAVE HERE TOMORROW: A FILM ABOUT LYNYRD SKYNYRD, featuring rare interviews and never-before-seen archival footage of the iconic American rock band, streams Saturday, 18 at 9 p.m. ET.
- Following a three-episode premiere event on Wednesday, July 25, new episodes of the psychological-horror series CASTLE ROCK stream Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET, concurrently with their linear broadcast on Space. From executive producer J.J. Abrams, and based on characters and settings by Stephen King, the 10-episode, one-hour series intertwines characters and themes from King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of the fictional Maine town of Castle Rock. The fictional Maine town has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT, and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories are either set there or contain references to the locale.
- Following its Canadian broadcast run on CTV, Season 1 of THE GOOD DOCTOR begins streaming Friday, Aug. 10. Finishing as the #1 new drama in Canada last fall, the series stars Freddie Highmore (BATES MOTEL) as Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore, BATES MOTEL), a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome who relocates from a quiet country life to join the prestigious St. Bonaventure hospital’s surgical unit. Shaun needs to work harder than he ever has before, as he navigates his new environment and relationships to prove to his colleagues that his extraordinary medical gifts will save lives.
- Things get dangerously steamy as Season 2 of GOOD BEHAVIOR begin streaming Friday, 17. Starring Emmy® and Golden Globe®-nominated actress Michelle Dockery (DOWNTON ABBEY), the second season opens as Letty Raines (Dockery) has patched things up with Javier (Juan Diego Botto) and reconciled with her mother, Estelle (Lusia Strus), who had long stood in the way of Letty getting custody of Jacob (Nyles Steele). On the run from FBI Agent Rhonda Lashever (guest star Ann Dowd), Letty, Javier, and Jacob are heading for a new life trying to be normal, but the more they try to create a normal life, the more things go awry.
- THE ROAST OF BRUCE WILLIS joins CraveTV’s Comedy Central Roasts collection beginning Friday, 3, following its premiere on Comedy. Bruce Willis goes from Die Hard to “dead on arrival” as some of the biggest names in entertainment serve up punches of their own to Hollywood’s go-to action star. With Roast Master Joseph Gordon-Levitt at the helm, and a surprise appearance by Demi Moore, nobody leaves the dais unscathed.
- GEORGE LOPEZ: THE WALL LIVE FROM WASHINGTON DC joins CraveTV’s HBO collection beginning Friday, 10. His fourth comedy special for HBO, Lopez performs before a live audience at the prestigious Kennedy Centre in Washington, D.C., headlining the venue for the first time.
- CraveTV’s Crime and Mystery collection expands this month, when THE MURDER CASTLE, CHANDRA LEVY: AN AMERICAN MURDER MYSTERY, and DEADLY DENTISTS begin streaming on Friday, 31.
