VMedia Inc. is pleased to announce that the CRTC has approved the application by its subsidiary, 2251723 Ontario Inc., to amend the terms of its broadcasting distribution undertaking(BDU) licence to enable VMedia to deliver its innovative TV and “over the top” service to all of Ontario. Under the original terms of its BDU licence VMedia was limited to serving the Greater Toronto Area and Kitchener/Waterloo, as well as Guelph, Chatham, Cornwall, Cambridge and North Bay. With the approval of its application VMedia will as of today begin to offer its TV service to Ottawa, Hamilton-Niagara, Barrie, London, Windsor, Kingston, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and their surrounding areas.
“This is a very exciting and timely development, as we have been getting many requests for our service from the new markets since our soft launch at the end of March,“ said Alexei Tchernobrivets, Chief Executive Officer of VMedia. “There is nothing more frustrating than having to turn down orders for our service, but the CRTC’s streamlined process has quickly enabled us to respond to demand from all over the province. This is great for us and, as a new competitive source of TV service, great for consumers.”
