CBC and APTN To Air Every Child Matters: Reconciliation Through Education Created By The National Centre For Truth and Reconciliation

Every Child Matters: Reconciliation Through Education is a powerful 90-minute special created by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) produced in collaboration with Insight Productions and supported by Canadian Heritage.  The special, airing on APTN and CBC, honours Residential School Survivors and their families through storytelling and performance by Youth, Leaders, Knowledge Keepers, and Elders from a diverse group of Indigenous Nations, communities, and cultures.  Every Child Matters: Reconciliation Through Education airs on Sunday, October 11th at 1 pm (1:30 NT) on CBC and the free CBC Gem streaming service.  The APTN airdate will be announced soon.

More than 500,000 students and teachers from coast to coast to coast have already had the opportunity to screen Every Child Matters: Reconciliation Through Education in their classrooms as part of Orange Shirt Day activities on September 30.  The special is an opportunity for all Canadians to honour residential school Survivors and recommit to the journey of Truth and Reconciliation.  The CBC airing this weekend enables families to watch the special together over the long weekend.

“We have put together an impactful and meaningful program featuring residential school Survivors, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, artists and leaders from nations and cultures across the country,” said Ry Moran, Director of the NCTR. “First Nations, Inuit and Métis storytelling comes together in a program that engages young people in a conversation about our country’s history and the path of Truth and Reconciliation that lays ahead – and while designed with school-aged audiences in mind, all Canadians will benefit from the wisdom, insight, and strength shared in this program.”

Every Child Matters: Reconciliation Through Education is created by The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation and produced by NCTR in collaboration with Insight Productions and in association with APTN and CBC.  The Executive Producers are Ry Moran and Stephanie Scott for NCTR; and John Brunton and Lindsay Cox for Insight Productions.  The special is written by Ry Moran, Stephanie Scott, and Lindsay Cox
