Production set to begin on Season 2 of CBC’s spy comedy InSecurity

Vérité Films and Company Name Here Productions in association with CBC announced today that production on Season 2 of the comedy series InSecurity will begin July 4, 2011. Set in Ottawa, the Nation’s Capital, at the fictional National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Season 2 of InSecurity follows secret agent Alex Cranston (played by series star Natalie Lisinska, Young People F**King, Chloe) and her team of spies who make keeping the nation safe look easy and getting a life look hard; after all, spies are people too. InSecurity will premiere on CBC as part of the 2011 fall prime-time lineup, airing Monday nights at 8:30 pm (9 p.m. NT) right after the BATTLE OF THE BLADES RESULTS SHOW. The 10-episode half-hour series is shot in Regina, Saskatchewan, with second camera photography shot in Ottawa, Ontario. Production wraps August 30, 2011.

“I’m really looking forward to season 2,” says Lisinska, “my character juggles being this amazing spy and trying to get a life. It’s hilarious and feels more grounded and universal. I can’t wait to get started.”

In Season 2 of InSecurity, NISA agent Alex Cranston and her team of spies juggle dates, terrorists, parents and security threats. It’s tough being a spy when your worst enemy is yourself. Season 2 hits that funny, messy and unpredictable intersection between the spy world and everyday life.

Starring alongside Lisinska are: Emmy-nominee William deVry (The Bold and the Beautiful, All My Children) as NISA’s politically-savvy director Peter McNeil; multiple Genie and Gemini Award-winner Rémy Girard (Incendies, Les Boys, Les invasions barbares, Le déclin de l’empire américain, Jésus de Montréal) as the jaded veteran agent on the team Claude Lesage; Matthew MacFadzean (Owning Mahowny, The Big Heist) as the loyal but inexperienced agent Burt Wilson; Grace Lynn Kung (Being Erica, Away from Her) as the brainy forensics specialist JoJo Kwan; and Richard Yearwood (The Plan) as unpredictable agent Benjamin N’udu.

Season 1 of InSecurity premiered to over 800,000 viewers on January 4, 2011. It was one of the most-watched premieres of any scripted Canadian comedy series on CBC last season.
