SNEAK PEEK: Kevin Zegers Talks About His Battle With Alcoolism on Tonight’s GEORGE STROUMBOULOPOULOS TONIGHT

He also talks about his upcoming wedding to Hollywood agent, Jaime Feld.

Here’s a preview of the interview:

TRANSCRIPTION:
KZ: I did this movie when I was 21, called Transamerica, that was a sort of niche movie that got a lot of – warranting  – getting me some offers on some movies. And I ether didn’t do them or I messed them up either intentionally or unintentionally ‘cause I had sort of this issue I hadn’t dealt with … and so I kind of pushed away the elevation of my career a little bit.GS: What issue?KZ: Alcoholism. Which unfortunately a lot of people have. So I sort of muddled around in that until I was 25 or 26 and of course you look back and you go ‘wow that’s when I wasn’t working the most’ … which –  go figure.  But – you know, after multiple situations with that – personally –  It never effected my job. I would never drink at work or anything.

But once I actually got sober, which was two years ago, funny enough, things start falling back into the order they were before. Because I’ve never moment where I said “I’m really worried I’m not going to make it as an actor.” Or I never thought maybe I should take a couple of courses in something else, in case this … so I never had  – that’s probably just ignorance, but it’s also belief that if I’m doing what I need to be doing, there’ll be a place for me.

GS: Which is more daunting; being in Hollywood, or marrying an agent?

KZ: Ummm – I happened to have found the coolest chick. I really didn’t want to get married – I feel like when you get sober your life starts – so I’m really like 2 years old..

GS: But what a good two. I’ve been straight edge for 18 years now and I’ll tell you it’s a different reality.

KZ: It is. And I’ve always said – if you can hire somebody – hire the sober guy, because he’s really been a mess before but he knows hard work and honesty and all that stuff that we never did when we were drinking.

Umm – so I just happened to be with the coolest chick I know. She’s an agent so she’s also a baller –  she definitely has the ‘ oomph’ in the family. Cause I’m all like “whoa – let’s all calm down, let’s make peace here,” and she’s like “Screw that. This is the way it’s going to be, if someone treated you like this …”

So I’m actually really not worried about being married – I’m worried about getting married, I’m worried about the 275 people and like do I put my uncle next to Reese Witherspoon? That’s what I’m worried about.
