A New Day for Breakfast Television: BT Celebrates 30 Years in Toronto and a Fresh New Format in Calgary and Vancouver, Beginning Monday

As Citytv launches a star-studded, action-packed new Fall schedule, a refreshed Breakfast Television experience debuts Monday, Sept. 23 in Calgary and Vancouver – one which builds on the strength and legacy of the iconic BT brand.  The local shows feature hyper-local news, traffic, and weather for Calgary and Vancouver audiences with in-market hosts, alongside broadly appealing entertainment and lifestyle content curated from across all BT shows.

“We’re bringing a great morning experience to our viewers in Calgary and Vancouver with a winning mix of local need-to-know information, while sharing our most popular segments across multiple markets.  Breakfast Television remains intensely local, yet bigger and connected across all our markets,” said Colette Watson, SVP, TV & Broadcast Operations, Rogers Media.

At Breakfast Television in Calgary, new news anchor Sarah Freemark joins traffic and weather reporter Michelle Yi, and national tech expert and live-eye reporter Mike YawneyBT Vancouver audiences wake up to familiar faces with news anchor Mary Cranston, meteorologist Russ Lacate, Thor Diakow for entertainment and traffic, and news reporter Greg HarperBT audiences in Calgary and Vancouver will also get to know Dina Pugliese, from BT Toronto, as the host of the all-market lifestyle and entertainment segments.

In addition, Breakfast Television in Calgary and Vancouver debuts a new “L-bar” design on September 23, ensuring essential morning information such as traffic and weather are on-screen throughout the entire show and during commercial breaks to help viewers plan their day.

Throughout September, Breakfast Television in Toronto celebrates three decades of making mornings brighter.  The brand has led the market with a winning mix of local news and need-to-know info, warm personalities, and engaging segments that capture the dynamic energy of Canada’s largest city.
