Citytv is pleased to welcome, award-winning journalist Avery Haines to the CityNews team. Viewers can see Avery reporting on the day’s top stories on Toronto’s source for local news, CityNews, starting September 15.

Avery brings her passion for story telling and her nearly 20 years of experience in radio and television – as reporter, anchor and host – to the CityNews team weeknights at 6pm and 11pm. Starting in radio while still in high school, Avery made the jump to television after attending the Radio and Television Arts program at Ryerson and spent time reporting and anchoring at CTV and here at Citytv.
Avery’s work on the Discovery series Health on the Line and Medical Hotseat earned her multiple nominations and two Geminis for Best Television Talk Series. She also received RTNDA awards for best Canadian Radio Newscaster and Best Spot Reporter. A travel enthusiast, Avery’s latest adventure took her to Costa Rica, living in the jungle with her family for almost two years, often and without water and electricity. Citytv is happy to welcome Avery back to Canada and to the CityNews team.
