Rogers Sportsnet and Citytv have scored again with a four-year renewal with the National Football League to continue broadcasting the Sunday 4 p.m. (ET) games.
Football fans were well served last year with a choice of two high definition games, thanks to a combination of games broadcast on Citytv and Sportsnet East, Sportsnet Ontario, Sportsnet West and Sportsnet Pacific channels at 4 p.m. (ET). The Rogers Media networks will continue to broadcast two games in each region of Canada for the duration of the renewal.
“We are excited to have the NFL back on our network,” said Doug Beeforth, President, Rogers Sportsnet. “This agreement ensures that fans will have a choice of two high-definition games at 4 p.m., thanks to Sportsnet and Citytv.”
“By teaming up with the NFL, we’ve guaranteed football fans another four year run to continue enjoying the football season on Citytv,” commented Malcolm Dunlop, EVP Programming, Rogers Media Television. “We’re thrilled to have renewed this opportunity along with Rogers Sportsnet.”
“We are very pleased to continue our relationship with Rogers for Sunday afternoon NFL football at 4pm,” said Hans Schroeder, the NFL’s Vice President of Media Strategy and Development. “This agreement ensures that our fans will continue to have great access to NFL games on Sunday afternoon.”
Rogers Sportsnet, Canada’s source for high-definition, live-event sports, consists of five channels: Rogers Sportsnet ONE, Rogers Sportsnet East, Rogers Sportsnet Ontario, Rogers Sportsnet West and Rogers Sportsnet Pacific. Sportsnet Connected is the network’s news program, which provides coverage of news and highlights from around the world of sports, including the NFL.
