The CIA and Secret Service have nothing on Christopher Chance, the brave and selfless ultimate protector in CTV’s newest drama HUMAN TARGET. Based on the popular DC Comic and graphic novel created in 1972, HUMAN TARGET makes its Canadian premiere on CTV on a special day, Friday, January 15 at 10 p.m. ET., before moving to its regular timeslot, Mondays at 8 p.m., beginning January 18 (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). The Vancouver-filmed series is an explosive, theatrical-scale adventure guaranteed to thrill week after week.
HUMAN TRAGET stars Mark Valley (FRINGE) as Christopher Chance, a unique private contractor/security expert/bodyguard that puts his own life on the line for his clients. He is joined on his adventures by colleagues Winston (Chi McBride, PUSHING DAISIES) and Guerrero (Jackie Earle Haley, Watchmen). Vancouver native Emmanuelle Vaugier (CSI:NY) guest stars.
“Strap on your seatbelts because HUMAN TARGET is one heck of a ride,” said Susanne Boyce, President, Creative, Content and Channels, CTV Inc. “This new series will satisfy any adrenaline addict, with its stellar casting and thrilling storylines.”
Call him whatever you like, because for Chance, it’s about one thing only: saving his clients’ lives. When there is an unusual or imminent threat that can’t be solved through “normal” means of protection, Chance is the man hired to completely integrate himself into his clients’ lives – as he becomes the human target. If you’re a corporate manager whose disgruntled employee has gone violently off the deep end, Chance is your new auditor. If you’re the president of a bank who’s been tipped off to a potential heist, Chance is your unassuming bank teller.
During each job, Chance, assisted by his business partner Winston (McBride) and hired gun Guerrero (Haley), puts himself directly in the line of fire as he races against time to save his client. But Chance’s dark history unravels with every new danger. Does anyone know who Christopher Chance really is? What secrets lay buried in his past? What would make a man willingly become a human target?
In the series opener, “Pilot”, Chance is hired to protect life-threatened engineer Tricia Helfer (BATTLESTAR GALLACTICA), of California’s first bullet train as it makes its maiden voyage from Los Angeles to San Francisco. In the second episode, ”Rewind”, airing Monday, January 18, at 8 p.m. ET, Chance and Winston encounter some severe turbulence when they work together to protect a client they have never met from an assassin aboard a passenger plane.
HUMAN TARGET began as a comic book series in 1972 in DC’s Action Comics where Christopher Chance was joined by other DC comic book heroes such as Superman and Batman. In 1992, a short-lived television series was created and aired on ABC starring pop icon Rick Springfield. Six years later, comic book writer Peter Milligan brought Chance back to life on paper with a four-part comic book mini-series that was later bound into a graphic novel titled “Human Target.” After the success of the novel, a new monthly comic book series was created in 2003. Currently, a brand new six-part comic series created by Len Wein and a backup story by HUMAN TARGET’s executive producer Peter Johnson will be on sale starting February 10, 2010.
HUMAN TARGET is a production of Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Wonderland Sound and Vision, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Television.
