CTV’s THE 2016 JUNO AWARDS to be Broadcast in 4K

CTV confirmed today its THE 2016 JUNO AWARDSbroadcast this Sunday will become the first music awards show in North America to be broadcast in 4K. The announcement follows the breakthrough earlier this year when TSN’s January 20 Toronto Raptors broadcast was the first live sports production in North America to broadcast in 4K. Co-hosted by Jann Arden and Jon Montgomery,THE 2016 JUNO AWARDS airs live from Calgary on CTV and CTV GO April 3 at 7 p.m. ET/8 p.m. AT.

Live 4K production is a bold new frontier for the TV industry, intensifying the live viewing experience with enhanced motion detail, increased screen pixel counts, and greater brightness range. Bell Fibe TV customers with a 4K television and receiver can experience every minute of Canada’s preeminent awards show in sharp, high-quality resolution.

Bell Media recently announced that TSN’s five national feeds are airing a slate of 4K broadcasts featuring the Toronto Raptors, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Ottawa Senators. Discovery Canada also announced that its premium video streaming service Discovery GO now offers a growing inventory of titles available in 4K on Samsung UHD TV, and that its upcoming original Canadian drama FRONTIER is currently being shot in 4K.

Performers on THE 2016 JUNO AWARDS include Alessia Cara, Bryan Adams,Coleman Hell, Dean Brody, Dear Rouge, Scott Helman, Shawn Hook, Shawn Mendes, The Weeknd, and Whitehorse, as well as a special tribute to 2016 Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee, Burton Cummings.
