HGTV’s Holmes and Holmes Begins Production

When it comes to home renovation decisions, is it always ‘like father, like son’? HGTV Canada may have the answer. The network has proudly commissioned a brand-new, Canadian original series with Canada’s most trusted contractor, Mike Holmes, and his son Mike Holmes Jr. (MJ). Holmes and Holmes follows the unstoppable pair as they transform MJ’s modest bachelor bungalow into the perfect first home for MJ and his girlfriend Lisa.

“Mike Holmes is a powerful personality who has been informing, entertaining and inspiring our viewers for more than a decade,” said Christine Shipton, SVP and Chief Creative Officer at Shaw Media. “Holmes and Holmes gives fans an up-close and personal look at the father-son duo as they experience the ups and downs of their most personal renovation challenge to date.”

“I’ve worked on series after series, helping good people get the home or reno they deserve, but this time the homeowner is my son, and he doesn’t always like to listen to Dad,” said Mike Holmes. “We work hard, we play hard, and we share the same vision, but how we get there is a little different. At the end of the day all I care about is that he’s happy and that he’s making smart decisions. So far, I’m very proud of this project and I’m excited to share some big, big surprises along the way.”

Production is currently underway on the six, hour-long episodes and the series is scheduled to premiere this fall on HGTV Canada.

While Mike and MJ share a last name, a strong work ethic, and a desire to help others, they don’t always see eye to eye.  Their different approaches provide the foundation for unexpected moments of humour and drama – though they always vow to build it right. In addition to seeing the newest materials and building techniques in Holmes and Holmes, viewers will get a glimpse into the personal lives of the Holmes men.

Before the debut of Holmes and Holmes, don’t miss Mike and MJ in Home to Win premiering April 24th at 10pm ET/PT on HGTV Canada.

Proper Rights Picks Up Global Distribution Rights
