CTV is ready for September with Summer series’ season finales and new Fall premieres. At the beginning of the month the seasons of COMEDY NOW!, COMEDY INC., FLASHPOINT, HOT IN CLEVELAND and MASTERCHEF all conclude, while new series including BLUE BLOODS begin. Also this month, CTV features a sneak peek of the new series, THE DEFENDERS. Around 8 a.m. on December 10, 2007, police in Mississauga, ON responded to a 911 call from a man who had said he had just killed his daughter. When officers arrived, they found 16-year-old Aqsa Parvez suffering from life-threatening injuries. She later died in hospital. The fate of this young Muslim woman and three others is explored in depth in the world television premiere of the two-hour Original CTV Documentary.

STAND UP FOR CANCER is a one-hour, commercial-free telethon fundraising event benefiting cancer research. This year’s participants include George Clooney, Will Smith, Gwyneth Paltrow, Denzel Washington, Renee Zellweger, Kathy Bates, Richard Branson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Lance Armstrong and Elizabeth Edwards. Tyler Hawkins has been performing stand-up comedy for years. Since his beginnings in the early ‘90s, Hawkins has toured around Canada and parts of the U.S. Hawkins has shared the stage with Norm MacDonald of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE at the Improv Comedy Club in the All Canadian Showcase in Los Angeles. In his years of experience, Hawkins has opened for many comedians including Dustin Diamond, Russell Peters and Jamie Kennedy.
