Born in Newmarket and based in Vancouver, Hannah Georgas burst onto Canada’s music scene in 2009, with her debut EP The Beat Stuff, garnering buzz across Canada. That same year, Georgas won CBC Radio’s Bucky Award for Best New Artist, allowing her the opportunity to record a song for a Wal-Mart commercial, attracting international attention. In 2010, Georgas released her full length debut, This Is Good, and in 2011 she was nominated for her first JUNO Awards, for New Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. Later that year, Georgas nabbed both the Emerging Artist of the Year award at XM’s Verge Music Awards and the Solo Artist of the Year award at the Sirius/XM-sponsored Indies. Since then, Georgas has toured internationally and performed as part of Kathleen Edwards’ touring band, which included a performance on THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN. Georgas released her latest self-titled album in October 2012 which is nominated for two 2013 JUNO Awards for Alternative Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.

Born in Toronto, Serena Ryder is kicking off 2013 in trailblazing form with her latest album, Harmony, achieving certified Gold status in just a few short months. The album’s first single “Stompa” has already garnered incredible attention, achieving Platinum certification in Canada, a first for Ryder. A three-time JUNO Award winner, and a nominee this year in the Single of the Year and Adult Alternative Album of the Year categories, Ryder is an artist adored by fans, peers, and critics alike which is due mainly in part to her immense raw and earnest songwriting talent and beautifully electric live performances. Ryder has toured with Melissa Etheridge, shared the stage with Ray Lamontagne and David Gray, and has seen her songs featured on CTV’s GREY’S ANATOMY, GOSSIP GIRL, and PRIVATE PRACTICE.

THE 2013 JUNO AWARDS is produced by Insight Productions in association with CTV and The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS).
