As the GTA dealt with heavy snowfalls last Friday, a record number of viewers turned to CTV Toronto and CP24 for storm coverage. Viewers once again proved that when breaking news happens, they turn to CP24 first. With a total of 3.1 million viewers tuning into CP24 at some point during the day, Friday, Feb. 8 becomes the second most-watched-day ever for the channel*. Additionally, 1.46 million viewers tuned in to some portion of the comprehensive storm coverage during CTV Toronto’s two-and-a-half hours of news coverage on CTV NEWS AT NOON, CTV NEWS AT SIX, and CTV NEWS AT 11:30.**“Toronto viewers consistently turn to CP24 and CTV Toronto for the latest and most trusted news of the day,” said Wendy Freeman, President, CTV News. “In extreme weather conditions, our viewers know they can count on us to provide the best, fastest, and most comprehensive coverage possible.”
And online, CP24.com saw a massive increase in online traffic with almost two million page views across all digital platforms on February 8. Users visited CP24.com’s online video gallery as well, generating the second highest day for video view traffic ever. And on Toronto.CTVNews.ca, the number of total page views was up nearly 60% over the previous day’s traffic.***
