Get ready to dance to a new beat! Canada’s #1 summer series SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE kicks off its seventh season with a two-hour premiere beginning Thursday, May 27 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV, with an encore presentation Saturday, May 29 at 2 p.m. ET on MuchMusic (visit CTV.ca and muchmusic.com to confirm local broadcast times). Unlike any season before, Season 7 offers new moves by keeping it fresh with some exciting new twists. Only 10 finalists will be competing, only one dancer will be eliminated per week, and new competitors will be paired with a fan favourite “all-star” dancer from a previous season of the series.
This season, the competition welcomes 12 former SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE favourites as all-star dance partners, who are skilled in various styles from krump to ballroom. The all-star dancers include:
* Contemporary dancer Ade Obayomi from Season 5
* Jazz and contemporary dancer Allison Holker from Season 2
* Ballroom dancer Anya Garnis from Season 3
* Hip-hop krumper Comfort Fedoke from Season 4
* Jazz dancer Courtney Galiano from Season 4
* Break dancer Dominic “D-trix” Sandoval from Season 3
* Contemporary dancer Kathryn McCormick from Season 6
* Jazz/hip hop dancer Lauren Gottlieb from Season 3
* Jazz/contemporary dancer Mark Kanemura from Season 4
* Jazz dancer Neil Haskell from Season 3
* Ballroom dancer Pasha Kovalev from Season 3
* Krumper Stephen “tWitch” Boss from Season 4
The judges travelled to Miami, New York City, Dallas, Nashville, Chicago and Los Angeles in search of America’s Favourite Dancer. Some of the highs and lows from the cross-country audition tour can be seen in the two-hour premiere on Thursday, May 27, at 8 p.m. ET on CTV.
Hosted by Cat Deeley, the hit dance competition series will again inspire and amaze viewers as dancers compete to be named America’s Favorite Dancer. Last season’s winner, Russell Ferguson, not only danced off with the title, but also krumped away with a $250,000 cash prize and a cover feature in the March issue of Dance Spirit Magazine.
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE was created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe and comes from 19 Entertainment Ltd. and dick clark productions. It is executive-produced by Simon Fuller, Nigel Lythgoe and Barry Adelman.
