Global Toronto is a winner again! The News Hour has received three prestigious awards from The Association of Electronic Journalists for Television in the Central Region, plus two honourable mentions for stories broadcast in 2009.

We focus daily on providing viewers with the highest quality news programming and these awards make it clear that we deliver.”
The winning News stories are as follows:
Bert Cannings Award – Best Newscast (Large Market) for exclusive coverage and interviews on the day two suspects were arrested for Tori Stafford’s murder in Woodstock.
The Adrienne Clarkson Award – Diversity Programming for the series ‘Our Canada – New Canadians.’ On the day they became Canadian citizens Allison Vuchnich did moving interviews with families from Iraq and Rwanda to find out what brought them to Canada.
The Trina McQueen Award – News Information Program for ‘Focus Ontario – The Ontario Legislature – Our House.’ Global Toronto’s Queen’s Park reporter Sean Mallen took viewers on a fascinating historical tour of the Ontario Legislature building.
In addition, Global Toronto has received honourable mentions for The Charlie Edwards Award – Spot News for the story ‘Struck By Lightning’ and The Dave Rogers Award – Short Feature (Large Market) for ‘A Single Rose.’
The awards were presented at the Central Region Awards Banquet this past Saturday, May 15.
