THE DR. OZ SHOW Launches its Second Season, Sept 7 on CTV

Dr. Oz finds himself in the unfamiliar role of patient when THE DR. OZ SHOW returns for its second season on Tuesday, September 7 at 5 p.m. ET on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). As part of the second season premiere, the EMMY® AWARD-winning host, who turned 50 in June, undergoes a colonoscopy to emphasize the critical role they can play in detecting and preventing colon cancer. But there are some surprising results: Dr. Jon LaPook, gastroenterologist and chief medical correspondent for CBS News, administers the screening and reveals some news that will have a profound impact on Dr. Oz’s life, family and viewers. THE DR. OZ SHOW airs Monday – Friday at 5 p.m. ET on CTV. New episodes of THE DR. OZ SHOW are available on demand the day following their television broadcast on the CTV Video Player at CTV.ca. THE DR. OZ SHOW also airs Monday – Friday at 9 p.m. ET on Star!.

Last season, THE DR. OZ SHOW averaged 644,000 viewers on CTV and became the #2 talk show in the country behind THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW with total viewers and A25-54 and A18-49. Additionally, Dr. Oz won an Emmy® for outstanding informative talk show host at the 2010 Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Awards, while THE DR. OZ SHOW was nominated for Best Informative Talk Show.

Additional episodes airing during premiere week feature three major themes which will recur throughout the new season – “5 to Know,” “Just 10 Pounds” and “The Pulse.” Each of these three segments will teach viewers about the five most important numbers that can save lives: blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose, weight and waist size.

Wednesday, September 8 at 5 p.m. ET – Dr. Oz facilitates a conversation on breast cancer and examines the discussion surrounding ductile carcinoma in situ or DCIS. Esteemed breast cancer specialists Dr. Laura Esserman, Director of UCSF Breast Center and Dr. Ruth Oratz, a breast cancer surgeon and advisor to Susan G. Komen for The Cure will discuss the difference of opinions, risks and options for women diagnosed with DCIS.

Thursday, September 9 at 5 p.m. ET – THE DR. OZ SHOW travels across America, from Embarrass, Minnesota to Peculiar, Missouri, and from Truthville, New York to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico to reveal America’s most embarrassing questions. Some residents are in studio to ask Dr. Oz their blush-worthy queries in person. This show also provides a back pain clinic for the number one cause of missed work in America – low back pain.

Friday, September 10 at 5 p.m. ET – THE DR. OZ SHOW debuts a brand new feature segment for 2010 – “The Pulse” – which rounds up top medical experts for a spirited discussion of the hottest health headlines. Friday’s episode features the most interesting stories of Summer 2010, such as the danger of cosmetic contact lenses. “The Pulse” will re-appear throughout the season at various intervals and when major health stories happen.

Monday September 13 at 5 p.m. ET – THE DR. OZ SHOW marks the debut of “Just 10 Pounds”. Just 10 pounds are all you need to make a huge difference in reducing your risk factors for stroke, heart disease, diabetes and other ailments. Dr. Oz shows his audience the consequences of the extra weight with a fatty liver, smaller brain, fatty heart, fatty omentum and deteriorated knee cap pulled from a cadaver. A team of experts consisting of Dr. Mike Roizen, interventionist Brad Lamm, trainer Gunnar Peterson, and nutritionist Dr. Ro will be on hand to discuss specific techniques to lose the weight and how to stay motivated.

THE DR. OZ SHOW is co-produced by Harpo Studios and Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and distributed by SPT. THE DR. OZ SHOW is executive produced by Mindy Borman; Amy Chiaro is co-executive producer. The show is filmed in front of a studio audience in Studio 6A in New York’s legendary Rockefeller Center.
