Departures – Season 3 premieres Saturday, March 6 at 10:00pm ET/7:00pm PT
Season 3 starts off with the crew enduring winter in Russia to continue another year-long adventure into some of the most difficult and unexplored countries on the planet. In the premiere episode of Departures Justin and Scott travel to the Ukraine and visit the last man still living in the radioactive zone in Chernobyl. Meeting up with local guide Bogdan, the group visits St. Petersburg for home-made vodka and Bogdan’s birthday party, before hopping on an overnight train to Moscow. A drive in a military tank and some Russian storytelling helps them get through the sleepless nights on their way east towards Siberia. Here they meet an authentic shaman, who puts them all to shame on the dance floor.
Which Way To – Season 2 premieres Sunday, March 7 at 9:00pm ET/6:00pm PT
Embrace the unknown with the Eagar brothers of Canada, -Jeff, Chris and Stephen – as they take you to exotic travel locations around the world and provide a unique behind-the-scenes perspective you won’t be find in any tourist guide. These homegrown mariners give a national take on international adventures in a series that takes you off the beaten path and into the unfamiliar. In the premiere episode the brothers attain their goal of riding motorcycles to the heart of Nicaragua. After a difficult search for motorbikes, the bros head through the jungle to the isolated beaches of the Pacific coast where they surf some of the best surf breaks in the world. From there they motor back inland to the huge volcanic island of Ometepe in the center of the Lake Nicaragua. Crossing the huge lake by ferry the brother’s Nicaraguan odyssey ends when they battle the mud and elevation of Volcan Maderas to reach the magical laguna at the heart of the crater.
Word Travels – Season 3 premieres Sunday, March 7 at 10:00pm ET/7:00pm PT
These days being a journalist can be a tough job. And with the publishing industry in flux, it is often travel writers who are the first to be sent packing. In season three of Word Travels go behind-the-byline and watch as seasoned Canadian travel writers Robin Esrock and Julia Dimon work harder and travel farther than before to find never-before-told-stories. In the season premiere episode, Robin and Julia head to the Masai Mara National Park for the legendary migration of the wildebeest. While the largest movement of animals on earth parade by, Robin thinks about his African roots, and Julia reflects on her love for Africa. Together, they relish the opportunity of staying in a luxury safari lodge, learning traditions from local Masai villagers, and the etiquette of game viewing.
Angry Planet – Season 3 premieres Sunday, March 7 at 10:30pm ET/7:30pm PT
Violent hurricanes and tornados, volcanoes spitting molten lava, floods from melting glaciers and raging forest fires are all part of the fabric of this intriguing series. Viewers will get an in-your-face thrill ride through some of the most extraordinary sights our Angry Planet can produce. Hosted by intense, personable thrillseeker George Kourounis, the show is a behind-the-scenes chronicle of the adventures – and misadventures – of George and his associates as they explore the world’s wildest weather and natural phenomena. In the series opener George heads straight into the “Bearcage”, looking to get beat up by the biggest, baddest hailstones that Texas and Oklahoma can throw at him. He finds it – and their stormchasing vehicle doesn’t look too pretty after coming through these massive storms.
