Space Explodes This July with Mind-Blowing Premieres and Hair-Raising Finales

Below is a chronological list of premieres, finales, and specials for July on Space. All programming is subject to change (all times ET; visit Space.ca to confirm local broadcast times and for the full broadcast schedule).

Monday, July 1

6 a.m. – 2 p.m. – PANIC BUTTON MARATHON

Viewers can catch-up on the high-impact, bone-chilling, Space original reality series PANIC BUTTON, where a group of select participants try to endure a terrifying maze that presents them with four ever-escalating and ever-changing levels of fear. Each week, five individuals are confronted by the thing that terrifies them most, including confinement, fear of the unknown, germs, snakes, spiders, or being buried alive. Only the most courageous will get to the end without hitting their panic button.

 

5 p.m. – 7 p.m. – EXPLODING SUN – Parts 1 and 2

Talented senior engineer Craig Bakus (Anthony Lemke, LOST GIRL) must partner up with his adversary Don Wincroft (David James Elliott, JAG), ex-wife Cheryl Wincroft (Natalie Brown, BITTEN), and a young communications technician, Reggie Walker (Alexandre Weiner (BLUE MOUNTAIN STATE), to save the planet when a historic space launch triggers a massive solar storm that could wipe-out mankind. Also stars Julia Ormond (MAD MEN).

 

Tuesday, July 2

10 p.m. – PANIC BUTTON – “Turn Out the Lights” *Season Finale*

In the season finale of Space original reality series PANIC BUTTON, five subjects face their deepest fears. Students Sabrina and Brian face their fear of germs and torture while Sal, a manager, is confronted with his fear of spiders. Restaurant manager Faith is challenged by her fear of being eaten alive, and civil litigator Cecilia tries to survive her terror of confinement. Will they make it to the end, or will they hit their panic button?

9 p.m. – THE ALMIGHTY JOHNSONS – *Season 3 Premiere*

The Johnsons continue to work on resolving the pesky quest of matching up Odin (Emmett Skilton, We Feel Fine) with his Frigg before the whole family crashes and burns, but they also set about reclaiming their lives in the “real” world.

 

Sunday, July 7

10 p.m. – GOTIKA (2003) *Movie Premiere*

A repressed female psychiatrist wakes up as a patient in the asylum where she worked with no memory of why she is there and what she has done. GOTIKA stars Halle Berry (Cloud Atlas), Penelope Cruz (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), and Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man 3).

9 p.m. – THE NIGHTMARE FACTORY *Special Premiere*

An inside look at the world of Hollywood special effects and the company paving the way, KNB Effects.

9 p.m. – DERREN BROWN: FEAR AND FAITH – “Part 1” *Special Premiere*

The first part of a two-part event, DERREN BROWN: FEAR AND FAITH looks at what happens when people have the experience of fear removed through the use of a powerful new drug. Brown is a master in the art of psychological manipulation.

 

10 p.m. – DERREN BROWN: FEAR AND FAITH – “Part 2” *Special Premiere*

In the finale of the two-part event, DERREN BROWN: FEAR AND FAITH, Brown looks at the psychology of religious belief, performs a satanic rite, and attempts to give an atheist a religious conversion.

 

Friday, July 12

9 p.m. – SHARKNADO (2013) *Movie Premiere*

When a freak hurricane swamps Los Angeles, thousands of sharks terrorize the waterlogged populace. Then, when high-speed winds form tornadoes in the desert, nature’s deadliest killer rules the water, land, and air. Stars Tara Reid (American Pie) and Ian Ziering (BEVERLY HILLS 90210).

 

Saturday, July 13

10:15 p.m. – ATLANTIC RIM (2013) *Movie Premiere*

When giant monsters crawl out of the Atlantic Ocean and attack the Eastern Seaboard, the U.S. Government is forced to trust A.I. robots to defend the country. ATLANTIC RIM stars Anthony ‘Treach’ Criss (Before I Self Destruct), David Chokachi (Collision Course), and Graham Greene (DEFIANCE).

 

Monday, July 15

7 p.m. – CAT. 8: Part 1 (2013) *Movie Premiere*

When a breakthrough in global defense malfunctions, the result is a fireball four times the size of Earth headed toward the planet. Stars Matthew Modine (The Dark Knight Rises) and Maxim Roy (HEARTLAND).

 

Wednesday, July 17

9 p.m. – EXIT *Season Finale*

Four teams of two contestants’ battle to escape a series of mind-bendingly and diabolical rooms, each more challenging than the last. The team that manages to find their way out goes home with a $10,000 prize

 

Saturday, July 20

9 p.m. – BEING HUMAN (UK) – “The Last Broadcast” *Series Finale*

Hal (Damien Molony, NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE) is ready to return to his hedonistic vampire ways now that he has built an army and has feasted on blood, and Tom (Michael Socha, THIS IS ENGLAND ‘88), is set on killing him as an act of revenge. The trio have to battle the devil and Captain Hatch (Phil Davis, Fast Girls), who has Alex (Kate Bracken, NEW TRICKS) trapped, and who also has also managed to regain his strength.

 

10:15 p.m. – SCREAM 4 (2011) *Movie Premiere*

Ten years have passed, and Sidney Prescott, who has put herself back together thanks in part to her writing, is visited by the Ghostface Killer. SCREAM 4 stars Neve Campbell (THE PHILANTHROPIST), Courteney Cox (COUGAR TOWN), and David Arquette (TRON: UPRISING).

 

Monday, July 22

9 p.m. – CAT. 8: Part 2 (2013) *Movie Premiere*

Following the global defense malfunction, fires blaze and panic spreads. Disgraced scientist Michael Ranger and his old partner Dr. Jane Whitlow set out to save the human race. Stars Matthew Modine (The Dark Knight Rises) and Maxim Roy (HEARTLAND).

 

Tuesday, July 23

9 p.m. – SHARKTOPUS (2010)

A diabolical hybrid of a shark and an octopus, created by a genetic scientist as the U.S. Navy’s next super-weapon, escapes to Puerto Vallarta after its control implants are damaged during a training experiment. Now, it’s up to a hotshot mercenary, an investigative reporter, a biomechanical engineer to stop a creature that no one has ever witnessed before. SHARKTOPUS stars Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight) and Hector Jimenez (Nacho Libre).

 

Saturday, July 27

9 p.m. – PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 (2010) *Movie Premiere*

After experiencing what they think are a series of break-ins, a family sets up security cameras around their home, only to realize that the events unfolding before them are more sinister than they seem. PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 stars Katie Featherston (THE RIVER), Micah Sloat (Paranormal Activity), and Molly Ephraim (LAST MAN STANDING).

 

Tuesday, July 30

9 p.m. – 2 HEADED SHARK ATTACK (2012)

When a boat filled with college co-eds spending a semester at sea is sunk by a mutated two-headed shark, the survivors escape to a deserted island. But when it starts flooding, the co-eds are no longer safe from the double jaws of the monster. 2 HEADED SHARK ATTACK stars Carmen Electra (Scary Movie), Charlie O’Connell (Dude, Where’s My Car?), and Brook Hogan (HOGAN KNOWS BEST).
