SPACE Invites DOCTOR WHO Fans to Celebrate Season Finale with INNERSPACE Live-To-Air Special, July 24

On Saturday, July 24 at 9 p.m. ET, the smash-hit first season of the regenerated DOCTOR WHO is checking out with a bang with the season’s final episode, “The Big Bang.” Immediately following the finale, SPACE celebrates the show’s record-breaking run with a special edition of INNERSPACE at 10:10 p.m. ET. Broadcasting live in front of a studio audience from SPACE headquarters in Toronto, this one-hour special is hosted by INNERSPACE host and genre expert Teddy Wilson and features an expert panel, never seen before interviews and a live web chat. Additional details to be revealed in upcoming weeks. For updates on the INNERSPACE live event and all things DOCTOR WHO, spacecast.com is the one-stop-shop.

Since its exclusive premiere on SPACE in April, the new season of DOCTOR WHO has been both a critical and ratings hit. Every week DOCTOR WHO consistently claims the #1 position in its time slot, beating out competing Canadian non-sports specialty networks,* while continuing to garner top nods from TV critics. Here’s what the critics are saying:

“You don’t have to be a sci-fi fan to enjoy Doctor Who. This is an adventure tale for kids of all ages, and this mad-cap, fast-paced romp posits a universe in which girls/women are just as tough and funny and resourceful as boys/men, and people of all ages, races, colours and creeds can get along. This is brilliant entertainment.” Canwest – May 22

“The fans agree: Newcomer Matt Smith makes a marvellous Time Lord in this new edition of the long-running sci-fi franchise, which has never been more visually arresting.” Globe & Mail – June 4

In the upcoming DOCTOR WHO episode “The Pandorica Opens”, a Van Gogh painting reveals a disturbing prophecy to the Doctor involving Cleopatra and the oldest cliff-face in the universe, Stonehenge. Concealed by Stonehenge, Pandorica, a prison-box of legend, slowly unlocks causing forces to gather in the heavens above and the draw close around the TARDIS. “The Pandorica Opens” is the first part of an exciting two-part season finale. It premieres Saturday, July 17 at 9 p.m. ET, exclusively on SPACE.
