It’ll be double the puppy fun when the 2013 WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB DOG SHOW returns LIVE this year to Animal Planet as dog lovers across Canada and around the world wait with baited breath to see which breed will claim the coveted title of “Best in Show.” America’s most prestigious dog showpremieres Monday, Feb. 11 and Tuesday, Feb. 12 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET/5 p.m. to 8 p.m. PT and will be staged – in a Westminster first! – in two spectacular venues – Madison Square Garden and The Piers (92/94)on Manhattan’s West Side.
By expanding the 2013 WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB DOG SHOW to The Piers, the increased space presents viewers with the opportunity to better experience the competing 3,200 dogs of 187 breeds and varieties in a more highly interactive manner. Maintaining tradition, Group Finals, Junior Showmanship Finals, and the ultimate award-season kudos, “Best in Show,” will take place at Madison Square Garden.
The 2013 WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB DOG SHOW is America’s second-longest continuously held sporting event behind only the Kentucky Derby, with the first telecast broadcast in 1948.
Programming note: The 2013 WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB DOG SHOW will repeat on Discovery World on Thursday, Feb. 14 and Friday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/ 10 p.m. PT; and on Discovery on Saturday, Feb. 16 and Sunday, Feb. 17 at Noon ET/ 9 a.m. PT.
