Premiering Sunday, April 4 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT, AFRICAN BAMBI is the real-life emotional story of one young impala’s journey to adulthood amidst the daily threats of his environment. Facing life in the bush without the guidance of a mother, AFRICAN BAMBI is a story of courage, instinct, hope and desperation.
Loved by his mother and protected by a thicket, AFRICAN BAMBI spends his early years frolicking in the meadows and discovering his world. But when his mother’s life is suddenly cut short, the young impala quickly understands the many threats he faces living in the bush of East Africa. Seen through the eyes of the narrator – the wise giraffe – Grant’s story of becoming the dominant male in his herd is filled with great pains and great adventures.
With big cats, jackals and hyenas lying in wait, witness Grant’s treacherous journey to reach maturity – from starvation to the search for a mate. Torn between his desire to be with the female and his yearning for the knowledge and freedom of the bachelor herd of males, AFRICAN BAMBI grows up confronting the fears that challenge all creatures of the bush.
