CURIOSITY Asks “Do You Ever Wonder?” Big Names Tackle Big Questions in the Landmark Multi-Year Event Series, Premiering August 7 on Discovery Channel

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you could live forever? What would happen if aliens attacked? Why sex is fun? More than just a landmark television event, CURIOSITY: THE QUESTIONS OF LIFE is an adventure of discovery, an expedition to uncover the truths behind life’s most challenging and fascinating questions. Premiering Sunday, August 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Discovery Channel, this unprecedented project, from the visionary mind of Discovery’s founder John Hendricks, will span 60 episodes over five years. Intel Corporation, a world leader in computing innovation, will be a presenting partner of CURIOSITY.

With unprecedented intellectual breadth and accessibility, CURIOSITY harnesses Discovery Channel’s decades of expertise and storytelling to answer the world’s biggest questions about space, biology, geology, medicine, physics, technology, nature, archaeology, history and the human mind. A series of provocative, unique and distinct specials hosted by world-renowned talent and experts, CURIOSITYgoes to extremes to uncover answers that will surprise even the most curious among us. Airing this Fall, the first 16 episodes dive fearlessly into a world of questions posed by well-known personalities including Academy Award® winnerMorgan Freeman investigating the possibility of a parallel universe; Maggie Gyllenhaal exploring why sex is fun; Michelle Rodriguez asking how we might survive an alien attack; MYTHBUSTERS’ Adam Savage testing if we can really live forever; award-winning filmmaker Morgan Spurlock seeing if living as a primitive caveman would actually improve our health; horror master, auteur director Eli Rothtesting the nature of evil; and DIRTY JOBS’ Mike Rowe revealing the hidden live organisms that call our bodies home.

CURIOSITY launches with a bang on Sun., Aug. 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT – some might even say a “Big Bang” – as the biggest name in science, Professor Stephen Hawking unabashedly takes on the third rail of academia in the premiere episode, “Did God Create the Universe?” For centuries religion and science have clashed over the question of explaining the universe. How was the world created? Can the laws of Nature co-exist equally with a belief in God? In this one-hour special produced by Darlow Smithson, and blending cutting-edge CGI with unparalleled scholarship, Hawking traces the ancient discoveries of Artistocus and Galileo to the scientific breakthroughs of Einstein in arguing that the simple properties of our universe far outweigh the possibility of the invisible hand of God.

The second CURIOSITY special, “Alien Invasion: Is It Happening?” premieresSun., Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Discovery Channel.

An extraordinary partnership opportunity, Intel Corporation will be an international presenting partner of CURIOSITY as the series debuts in the U.S. and Canada in August, and other regions in September. A first-of-its-kind investment for Intel, the company will use CURIOSITY as a global marketing platform in more than 40 countries – including Canada – with key partnership elements including imbedded content in four CURIOSITY episodes premiering this Fall.
