Rogers Sportsnet will shift into high gear with live coverage of the Mobil 1 Presents Grand Prix of Mosport on Sunday, July 24 at 3:00 p.m. (ET)/12:00 p.m. (PT) on Sportsnet ONE.
The Grand Prix of Mosport, a featured race within the popular American Le Mans Series, is a 4.0 km and 10-turn road course located in Bowmanville, Ontario. This is the only Canadian stop of the 2011 ALMS schedule.
Canadian Tony Burgess will race his home track in the Autocon Motorsports Lola, in the top-level LMP1 class. This will be the Toronto native’s first race of the season and is looking to better his third-place finish from a year ago.
Fresh off a podium finish in the ALMS race at Lime Rock Park earlier this month, Intersport Racing’s Kyle Marcelli of Barrie, Ontario will co-pilot the #89 Intersport Racing Oreca FLM09. Mosport veteran Ken Wilden of Oakville, Ontario will join the Jaguar RSR team in the highly competitive GT class. The last time Wilden took to Mosport’s historic track, was in the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series in 2010 where he set the track qualifying and race fast lap records.
The American Le Mans Series is the most unique North American racing circuit as teams of drivers from both the professional and private sector drive in nine different road circuits in a season. The racers compete in one of five categories with all competitors racing at the exact same time. Points are garnered for each race and determine the overall winner each season.
