The return of History Television’s top-rated series, Ice Road Truckers, was the show’s most-watched episode of all time, hauling-in over half a million viewers on Wednesday, March 31 at 9 pm ET/PT. This achievement marks the highest audience ever for a series on History Television, exceeding the channel’s high-water mark of the debut episode of Ice Road Truckers on March 4, 2009 at 512,000 (2+) and 245,000 (A25-54). The highest-rated program on Specialty television during its timeslot, the premiere episode of the third season delivered massive ratings to the channel with 597,000 (2+) viewers, 280,000 (A25-54) and 287,000 in the younger A18-49 category.

This audience feat is just one of the many ratings accomplishments for History Television since the launch of its new powerhouse spring schedule on March 29, 2010. On Tuesday, March 30, the second season of the viewer-favourite series, Pawn Stars, captivated viewers and pulled in 128,000 (A25-54) at 9 pm ET/PT and 165,000 (A25-54) at 9:30 pm ET/PT. The new Canadian series, Aftermath, also launched with strong audience numbers on Monday, March 29 at 8 pm ET/PT, with 173,000 (A25-54) and 149,000 (A18-49).
The quality, cutting-edge programming on History Television continues to attract Canadian viewers and has cemented its AMA powerhouse status. Viewers flock to programs such as Cities of the Underworld and Nostradamus Effect, which use state-of-the-art technology and innovative techniques to create an immersive viewing experience. Compelling series like Ice Road Truckers, Pawn Stars and Ice Pilots NWT have brought more women and younger viewers to the channel, while Hollywood films such as American Gangster, Gladiator and The Departed continue to deliver blockbuster ratings to the channel.
