MuchMusic Airs Exclusive Premiere of Shawn Desman’s ALIVE, Tuesday, Feb. 5

MuchMusic continues to deliver innovative programming with the worldwide television premiere of ALIVE on Tuesday, Feb. 5at 7 p.m. ET. The brainchild of Canadian pop sensation Shawn Desman and MuchMusic Video Award-winner RT!, this 30-minute, all-new special tells the story of love, the power of persistence, and the pursuit of one’s dreams. Starring Shawn Desman, Kaitlyn Leeb (HEARTLAND), Melinda Shankar (DEGRASSI), K.C. Collins (LOST GIRL), ALIVE is set to the music of Desman’s upcoming albumAlive, to be released by Universal Music Canada on the same day. A live stream of the special will also be available on muchmusic.com.Preceding the premiere of ALIVE, Desman and Director RT!, as well as lead actors Leeb and Shankar, drop into NEW.MUSIC.LIVE. on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. ET, where they chat with Lauren Toyota about the project. Then, MuchMusic gives viewers an all-access pass to the making of the special with NML PRESENTS: THE MAKING OF ALIVE, at 6:30 p.m. ET. From shooting the dance competition on NML, which landed dancers a spot on the special, to going backstage with Desman as he readies for his performance at Much’s big ticket event, THE BIG JINGLE, Much cameras give viewers an inside look at Desman’s most ambitious project yet.

JUNO-award winning, multi-platinum selling recording artist Shawn Desman and two-time MMVA winner for Director of the Year, RT!, present ALIVE, a classic tale of pursuing one’s dream in a groundbreaking, original television special that fuses film, music, and dance into a thrilling, emotional rollercoaster ride. ALIVE tells the story of Liv, played by Canadian acting heavyweight Kaitlyn Leeb (HEARTLAND; Total Recall), a small-town dancer who dreams of a bigger stage than the community centre she practices in. A chance encounter with her idol, Shawn Desman, inspires her to take a leap of faith and chase her fleeting dream all the way to the big-city lights of Toronto. Along the way of her life-changing journey, Liv learns just what it takes to make dreams come true, and what it really means to be truly alive. The special also stars Melinda Shankar (DEGRASSI) as Kaitlyn, the quirky, big-city roommate who takes Liv under her wing; Bree Wasylenko(Frenemies; Stay With Me) as Roxy, a rival dancer whose ambition is matched only by her attitude; Izaak Smith (TOTALLY AMP’D; THE LISTENER) as Matt, Liv’s supportive, loving boyfriend; and, K.C. Collins (LOST GIRL, SAVING HOPE) as Lincoln, the gruff, tough love-giving, world renowned dance instructor.
