The MUCH VJ SEARCH is Back and Bigger Than Ever

MuchMusic is calling on youth across Canada to stash away their retail nametags, shove those fast food paper hats in the trash, and hang up their barista smocks because the Much VJ Search is back! FRUCTIS FRUIT SENSATION PRESENTS: MUCH VJ SEARCH promises to cover more ground, dish out more challenges, and deliver more surprises and excitement than ever before. Audition details, including the submission process, will be announced in the coming weeks on NEW.MUSIC.LIVE. Coverage of the three-month, nationwide competition begins in March 2013 before concluding in April. In the meantime, viewers can get daily updates on MuchMusic and muchmusic.com.The FRUCTIS FRUIT SENSATION PRESENTS: MUCH VJ SEARCH gives everyone a shot at the coolest job ever – to be a Much VJ. No experience is required: the only criteria needed are a passion for music and pop culture, a kick @ss personality, a flair for television, and the gift of gab. The successful candidate gets to interview the top bands in the music biz, meet hardcore fans, travel across the country, and work out of the iconic Much HQ at 299 Queen St. West in Toronto.

“MuchMusic continues to offer viewers the biggest opportunities to fulfill their dreams,” said Neil Staite, Vice-President and General Manager, Music and Entertainment, Bell Media. “By teaming up with Garnier, this VJ Search will reach across the country like never before.”

“Fructis is a youthful and energetic brand, making this partnership with MuchMusic a perfect match,” said Karine Paré, Marketing Manager for Garnier Fructis. “The Much VJ search has built a reputation as one of the most exciting, edgy, and social media-driven competitions in Canada. We plan to bring Fructis’s unique spin to the search by integrating the reveal our new Fruit Sensation line with a stylish twist! We can’t wait for this coveted competition to kick off and ignite the excitement across Canada to find a new VJ sensation!”

The Much VJ Search has cemented itself as an iconic part of the Canadian media landscape. Each time around, the Much VJ Search grows and changes its tune slightly, making the VJ hopefuls work their butts off in a series of competitions to earn their spot as Much’s newest face. Back in 2006, the VJ Search was organized as a ten-episode reality competition, where hopefuls were eliminated by a panel of celebrity judges based on how well they performed at tasks testing their TV hosting skills. In 2009, the VJ Search went digital with VJ SEARCH 2.0, incorporating fan voting online and a competition streamed across muchmusic.com. This year, MuchMusic changes things up again, and will soon reveal the parameters of the competition.
