The Blackburn Rovers host Aston Villa in the first leg of their Carling Cup semi final live Tuesday, January 5 at 3 p.m. ET/ 12 noon PT on Setanta Sports.
The other two-match semi final gets underway Wednesday, January 6 at 2:45 p.m. ET/ 11:45 a.m. PT when Manchester United host local rival Manchester City.
The second leg of each semi final will also be broadcast live on Setanta on consecutive days beginning Tuesday, January 19.
Defending Carling Cup champion Manchester United have been near flawless in their march to the semi finals. The Red Devils have scored five goals and surrendered none in their three matches. The club is looking for their eighth Carling Cup final appearance and their fourth title.
Aston Villa is also hoping to book their eighth trip the final of Carling Cup. With five titles to their credit only Liverpool with seven boast more Carling Cups. Despite the success, Villa have not reached the final since they defeated Newcastle United 2-1 in the 1996 title match.
Manchester City is in the midst of an even more daunting Carling Cup drought. The Blues who have made the final on three occasions last won the Carling Cup in 1976 when they won their second title.
Blackburn’s success in the Carling Cup amounts to one final appearance in 2002 when they defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in front of 72,500 fans at Millennium Stadium.
