TSN Goes Back to School for a CIS Football Playoff Doubleheader Featuring the UTECK BOWL and MITCHELL BOWL, Live on Saturday

Playoff football continues on TSN this weekend with a CIS doubleheader featuring the UTECK BOWL and MITCHELL BOWL live on Saturday, Nov. 20. The UTECK BOWL featuring Western @ Laval airs live at 12 noon ET followed by Saint Mary’s and Calgary squaring off in the MITCHELL BOWL live at 3:30 p.m. ET. Both games will be available on-demand at TSN.ca following the conclusion of the live television broadcasts.

Rod Black calls the action for the UTECK BOWL alongside analyst Duane Forde with Katherine Dolan reporting from the sidelines. Rod Smith handles play-by-play duties for the MITCHELL BOWL, and is joined in the booth by analyst Mike Morreale with Farhan Lalji reporting from field level.

The first game slated for Saturday, the UTECK BOWL, has the #1-ranked Laval Rouge et Or playing host to the #2-ranked Western Mustangs. These teams met once before in the CIS playoffs at the 2008 Vanier Cup game which Laval won 44-21. Laval won its eighth-consecutive QUFL title to earn a berth in the UTECK BOWL and boasts an impressive 11-0 record so far this season. Meanwhile, Western has just one loss on the season and earned its third OUA title in the last four years with a thrilling last-second win over Ottawa this past weekend.

Saturday’s second CIS playoff match-up, the MITCHELL BOWL, features two more of the country’s premier football programs in the Saint Mary’s Huskies and Calgary Dinos. The Huskies travel to Calgary after winning a fourth consecutive AUS championship with a convincing 37-8 victory over the rival Acadia Axemen. Calgary plays host to Saint Mary’s on Saturday and looks to continue its strong play after dominating the Canada West championship game with a 56-3 victory over the Alberta Golden Bears.

The winners of Saturday’s games will advance to the 2010 DESJARDINS VANIER CUP game on November 27, which airs live on TSN with coverage beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET as part of GREY CUP SATURDAY.
