TSN Presents THE EXTRA YARD: INSIDE THE 2011 ARGOS

With kickoff to the regular season just over a week away, Canada’s Sports Leader today announced the broadcast schedule for its all-access original documentary series, TSN Presents THE EXTRA YARD: INSIDE THE 2011 ARGOS, profiling the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts and taking fans inside Canada’s league like never before.

Premiering Sunday, July 3 at 10 p.m. ET, immediately following the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ season opener at home against the Edmonton Eskimos, THE EXTRA YARD: INSIDE THE 2011 ARGOS tells the story of the 2011 Toronto Argonauts and delves deep into the compelling lives of the players and coaches both on and off the field. The documentary series delivers exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the Double Blue and gives fans unprecedented access to players, coaches and executives in four 60-minute episodes airing throughout the summer (see broadcast schedule below).

The first episode of THE EXTRA YARD: INSIDE THE 2011 ARGOS gives fans a seat on the sidelines during Argos’ training camp, as new and returning players compete for coveted starting positions, while coaches deal with the trials and tribulations of building a Grey Cup-contending team.

“TSN’s robust slate of CFL programming and specials has never been stronger and THE EXTRA YARD: INSIDE THE 2011 ARGOS scheduled after the Eskimos-Riders game is the perfect anchor to an opening weekend of CFL action,” said Shawn Redmond, Vice-President of Programming, TSN. “The addition of this original documentary series to our programming schedule is a testament to the popularity of the CFL and to football fans clamouring for more coverage of the league than ever before.”

The broadcast schedule for THE EXTRA YARD: INSIDE THE 2011 ARGOS is as follows:
• Episode 1 – Sunday, July 3 at 10 p.m. ET, immediately following Edmonton @ Saskatchewan
• Episode 2 – Thursday, Aug. 4 at 10:30 p.m. ET, immediately following Montreal @ Toronto
• Episode 3 – Friday, Sept. 2 at 10:30 p.m. ET, immediately following BC @ Toronto
• Episode 4 – Friday, Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m. ET, leading into Montreal @ Edmonton

In addition to the television broadcasts, fans are able to catch all the episodes on-demand at TSN.ca/TheExtraYard. The website will complement the four-part documentary series with exclusive clips, articles, interviews and an episode guide. Argonauts.ca will also feature additional footage and deleted scenes.

THE EXTRA YARD: INSIDE THE 2011 ARGOS was commissioned by TSN and produced by Aquila Productions in association with TSN.

TSN is the official broadcaster of the CFL with all 77 games including the playoffs and the 99th GREY CUP in Vancouver.
