W Network Announces 9 New Original Series For 2010-2011

Corus Entertainment’s W Network announced today a slate of nine new original series that are currently in production for the networks’ upcoming fall and winter schedules. Featuring many new talents and familiar faces including Candice Olson and Ty Pennington, and series such as Come Dine with Me Canada, based on the popular U.K. format, this lineup of new shows covers all the bases when it comes to home programming.

“We are looking forward to working with our Canadian production partners over the coming months on our biggest slate of original productions yet,” said Vibika Bianchi, Director, Original Productions, W Network. “With this new lineup, we will give our viewers exactly what they’ve asked us for – more home focused programming featuring all aspects of the home, from renovation and design, to financing, buying, selling and entertaining.”

The nine new original series join three returning series with new seasons: Anna & Kristina’s Grocery Bag, Colour Confidential and Love It or List It.

SERIES INFORMATION:

FALL

ALL FOR NOTHING (13 x 60)

All For Nothing follows two different homeowners hoping to sell their properties that are in need of some design improvements. They are given two weeks and zero budget to transform their neglected properties into beautiful sale-ready homes. The seller who increases the value of their house the most at the end of the two weeks wins and receives the commission-free listing services of an expert real estate agent. Produced by Mountain Road Productions in association with W Network.

INSIDE THE BOX WITH TY PENNINGTON (13 x 30)

Ty Pennington puts ‘armchair designers’ – people who think they know all about interior design – to the test, challenging two keen amateurs, who could be friends, relatives, neighbours or colleagues, to go head to head in an all-out design duel. They and their teams have two days to create a themed room in each of their homes – but there’s a catch: they have to impress Ty by using everything inside the box. Design associate and celebrated Canadian designer Janette Ewen will also be on hand to check in on the rivaling design teams every step of the way. Produced by Cineflix (ITB) Inc. in association with W Network.

BURN MY MORTGAGE (13 x 30)

Burn My Mortgage shows clueless homeowners that with a little bit of pain, there is a lot to gain when it comes to paying off one of life’s biggest purchases. The price of real estate has gone sky high, and despite low mortgage rates, families are drowning in mortgage debt. Lead by financial expert Kelley Keehn and motivator Chad Bisch, Burn My Mortgage helps families shave years and tens of thousands of dollars off their mortgages in an engaging and entertaining format. Produced by RTR Media in association with W Network.

COME DINE WITH ME CANADA (13 x 30)

Come Dine with Me Canada follows five amateur chefs competing for the title of the ultimate dinner party host. Each night for one week these strangers take turns cooking up their idea of the perfect evening – that includes the menu, cocktails, wine, entertainment and ambiance. After dinner, each competitor rates the host’s performance and at the end of the week, the host with most votes is crowned the winner and rewarded with the ‘ultimate dinner party host’ title and a cash prize. Produced by Proper Television in association with W Network and based on the format created by ITV Studios (UK).

GRIN AND BUILD IT! (13 x 30)

Every couple has a house project that constantly gets pushed to the wayside because the ‘handy one’ doesn’t have time and the ‘not-so-handy one’ doesn’t have the knowhow or confidence. Grin and Build It! sets out to challenge these couples to step out of their comfort zones. Each episode takes the renovation clueless by surprise and only allows them to do the renovations, while the renovation-savvy is forced to watch off-site where they cannot interfere. The couples receive help from an expert designer and contractor, plus up to $20,000 worth of materials and supplies and, as long as they can accept their new roles, their dream plans will come true. Produced by Zone3 in association with W Network.

WINTER

CANDICE TELLS ALL (13 x 30)

Designer Candice Olson (Divine Design) is on a mission to reveal the secrets of timeless design principles in Candice Tells All. Candice will showcase a room’s true potential through her design transformations, giving advice on how to achieve the same look at home. Candice will not only highlight design concepts, but will take viewers on a journey demonstrating how she gets her inspiration. Produced by Fusion Television in association with W Network.

HOMEWRECKERS (13 x 30)

In each episode of Homewreckers, expert contractor Kristi Hansen works with homeowners to uncover unseen problems in order to save their homes. Kristi knows that home repairs take a distant back seat to shiny appliances, kids’ activities, and tropical getaways for most people – until it’s too late. As Kristi works to repair and transform the homeowners’ living space, she offers viewers a survival guide of the what-not-to-ignore, and what-must-be-done. Produced by Fusion Television in association with W Network.

PROPERTY BROTHERS (13 x 60)

Real estate agent Drew Scott and his contractor brother Jonathan Scott, set out to find fixer-uppers to turn into buyers’ dream homes – without busting their budget – in this new real estate/home renovation series, Property Brothers. With the help of CGI technology, the brothers show buyers the underlying potential in two rundown properties. When the client chooses the property they like the best, Drew begins negotiating the purchase price while Jonathan starts planning the transformation. Produced by Cineflix (Property Brothers) Inc. in association with W Network.

SIBLING RIVALRY (Working title) (13 x 30)

Sibling Rivalry features confident and charismatic 30-something twins Dan and Nikki Hall. Dan and Nikki have had an ongoing rivalry since birth and now they’ve taken it to new heights in a friendly competition to flip houses for profit. Dan has years of experience as a builder and has just branched out on his own. Nikki on the other hand is a newbie with the golden touch. The profit from her last project was almost triple Dan’s. So naturally, Dan’s got something to prove for the next one. Produced by Cream Productions in association with W Network.
