YTV returns to the wilderness with Survive This, Season 2

Corus Entertainment’s YTV returns to the backwoods with real Survivorman Les Stroud and a new group of teens in the second season of YTV’s original series Survive This. Leaving all the comforts of home, eight teens are put to the test to see if they have what it takes to make it through to the hour-long season finale. Produced by 9 Story Entertainment in association with YTV, Survive This premieres on Monday, April 19 at 7 p.m. with two back-to-back episodes, new episodes will air in the show’s regular timeslot Mondays at 7:30 p.m.

Modeled after Season 1, Survive This follows eight teens between the ages of 13 and 17 as they are tested physically, emotionally and intellectually throughout each half-hour episode of this 13-part series. Cast for their distinct personalities and appetite for adventure, the teens are mentored and tested by returning host Les Stroud through challenges including: building a shelter; finding food and water; starting a fire; signalling for rescue; and treating an injury. The teen who overcomes the most painstaking and gruelling situations will make it through to the show’s one-hour finale, as the rest meet their limit and admit that they cannot survive.

Season 2’s participants include 15-year-old Colin, a.k.a. The Whiz Kid from Hamilton, ON, who believes that academics are far more important than a social life; Jade, a 13-year-old who grew up on a 24-acre farm in Ancaster, ON; 17-year-old aspiring actor Michael, a.k.a. The Entertainer from Brampton, ON; The Diplomat, 16-year-old Manaal from St. Catharines, ON; Mississauga’s Justin, a 16-year-old musician who loves his steak; The Athlete, 14-year-old Nicole; The Rebel from Niagara Falls, 16-year-old Patricia; and last but not least, 14-year-old, future biologist and conservationist Ian from Ajax, ON.

In episode 1 ‘Plane Crash’, premiering on Monday, April 19 at 7 p.m., Les welcomes this keen group to the scene of a floatplane crash. One of the teens will be declared the Ultimate Survivor at the end of the series, Les presents the eight with their first challenge as two members are separated from the group and must spend their first night alone.
