TV Gord’s What’s On for the week of December 20-26, 2015

Disclaimers: All times eastern. CBS shows on Sundays may run over because of NFL Football. PBS times may vary by your local station’s whims.

By the way, check out our Channel Canada Fall Calendar, too!

Calendar

Sunday

Star Trek: The Animated Series marathon – 9am to 8pm (All 22 episodes)

The animation of this 1973-74 series was nothing spectacular, but the stories have been hailed as some of the original series’ best.

The Sound of Music Sing-Along – 7 to 11pm on ABC and CTV Two

Words on the screen! Now, you can sing along! This special showing of the 1965 classic film lets you try on your best Julie Andrews or whomever sings for Christopher Plummer! (The Non sing-along version is on CITY on Christmas Eve from 8 to 11pm).

Undercover Boss – 8pm on CBS – 7th Season Premiere

Another season of employers pretending to be regular joes while the regular joes pretend that their new co-worker isn’t a regular joe.

The 64th Annual Miss Universe Pageant – 7 to 10pm on Fox

Steve Harvey hosts this pageant, which—for the first time—will not feature a swimsuit competition.

Monday

Superstore and Telenovela – 8 to 9pm on NBC – Series Premieres

These new sitcoms have already premiered in recent weeks, but NBC is giving the first episodes another airing in their regular timeslots.

A Saturday Night Live Christmas – 9 to 11pm on NBC

A compilation of classic (and more recent) Christmas-related sketches and performances.

A review of memorable moments from this eventful year.

Wednesday

I Love Lucy Christmas Special – 8 to 9pm on CBS

Two classic episodes are colourized for this year: 1956’s “Christmas Episode” and 1952’s “Lucy Does a TV Commercial”, which has become immortalized as the Vitameatavegamin episode.

Thursday

Louie marathon – 4:30 to 8:30pm on FX Canada

Louis CK’s entire fifth season, which also airs on Christmas from 6 to 10am.

Friday

The Andy Griffith Show Christmas Special – 8 to 9pm on CBS

Two classic episodes are colourized for the holidays: 1960’s “The Christmas Story” and 1961’s “The Pickle Story” (which is considered one of the best by fans of the show).

Doctor Who Christmas Special – 9 to 10:15pm on Space

While hiding from Christmas festivities on a remote human colony, the Doctor is recruited to help River Song (Alex Kingston). This annual special is a Christmas tradition, but Space is turning most of its schedule over to The Doctor from 8am on Wednesday leading up to the new edition, including all of the Christmas specials since 2005 and every episode from seasons eight and nine.
