TV GORD’S WHAT’S ON FOR THE WEEK OF October 16-22, 2016

As Hallowe’en draws near, there are some spooky and scary offerings this week, from a recap of The Walking Dead to the new production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show; from It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown to the final U.S. President Debate! (Just kidding about the last one…maybe.) Happy viewing!

Sunday

The Walking Dead – 9 to 11:05pm – Recap Episode/Sneak Peak Season 7 Premiere

A two-hour recap of “The Journey So Far” features interviews with cast and crew, ending at 11pm with a five-minute preview of next week’s season premiere.

The Durrells in Corfu – 8 to 9pm on PBS – Series Premiere

This six-part British drama (which has already been renewed for a second season) follows a family in 1935 who moves to the Greek island of Corfu after the patriarch dies, sending them into a financial crisis. Keeley Hawes stars as Louisa Durrell and veteran actress and dancer Leslie Caron portrays Countess Mavrodaki.

Monday

The Odd Couple – 9:30 on CBS/City – 3rd Season Premiere

Jane The Virgin – 9pm on The CW – 3rd Season Premiere

Travelers – 9pm on Showcase – Series Premiere

Eric McCormack and Mackenzie Porter headline this science fiction series about the last surviving humans who discover a way to go back in time to the 21st century, where/when they try to save the human race.

Tuesday

Mr. D – 9:30pm on CBC – 6th Season Premiere

Channel Zero: Candle Cove – 9pm on Showcase – Series Premiere

Paul Schneider stars as Mike Painter, a child psychologist who remembers a TV show from his childhood that no one else seems to know. He starts to think that show had a profound impact on his childhood and may have played a role in some of the frightening things he went through in his younger years. He returns to his hometown and discovers that those strange event seem to be happening again.

Wednesday

It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown – 8pm on ABC (It’s the 50th anniversary of this classic special!)

Following the final U.S. Presidential Debate, The Daily Show (11pm on Comedy), The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (11:35 on CBS/Global) and Jimmy Kimmel Live (11:35 on ABC/12am on Comedy) will be live.

Thursday

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do The Time Warp Again – 8 to 10pm on Fox

Laverne Cox headlines the cast of this remake of the 1975 film, which starred Tim Curry. This time, he is the narrator of this update version. Directed by Kenny Ortega, who also directed the High School Musical trilogy.

Friday

The Vampire Diaries – 8pm on The CW/CTV Two – 8th Season Premiere

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend – 9pm on The CW – 2nd Season Premiere

Saturday

Class – 9 to 11pm on Space – Series Premiere (Two episodes)

Students from Coal Hill Academy deal with stresses of everyday life and the impact of time travel.
