TV GORD’S WHAT’S ON FOR THE WEEK OF March 27-April 2, 2016

James Corden brings his Carpool Karoake shtick to prime time. Rush Hour and TED Talks come to TV. Jeremy Piven’s Mr. Selfridge is back for a final season. CNN’s excellent documentary series on the decades of our lives is back with The Eighties. And last, but not least, Empire is back, baby! Happy Viewing!

Mr. Selfridge on Masterpiece Classic – 9pm on PBS (Two hours) – 4th and Final season

Monday

And Then There Were None – Monday from 8 to 10pm on CBC – Miniseries Premiere

A dramatic adaptation of an Agatha Christie novel. Ten strangers are drawn to an isolated rock off the Devon coast; as the group waits for the arrival of their hosts, the weather sours and they find themselves cut off from civilization; a murderer exists among the strangers.

Tuesday

The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special – 10pm on CBS/CTV Two

James Corden celebrates his show’s first year with highlights from the late night show, including many of his Carpool Karoakes, including a brand new one with Jennifer Lopez.

Wednesday

Empire – 9pm on Fox – Mid-Seaspn Premiere

TED Talks – 10pm on PBS – Series Premiere

The popular online series of Talks make their way to television, tonight focusing on the future of nanotechnology, life beyond earth and the science of light. If you don’t learn some neat stuff from watching this, you’re not paying attention.

Thursday

The Eighties – 9 to 11pm on CNN – Series Premiere

Tom Hanks is one of the executive producers of this documentary series (followup to The Sixties and The Seventies) examining the 1980s. The first edition examines a generation, “Raised on Television”.

The Path – 9 to 10:15pm on Showcase

Aaron Paul’s followup to Breaking Bad is about a family at the centre of a controversial cult. Michelle Monahan, Hugh Dancy and Kathleen Turner also star. Jason Katims, the mind behind the TV adaptations of Parenthood and Friday Night Lights, is an Executive Producer. This series runs on Hulu in the U.S., which (they love to remind us) is not available in Canada, so THANKS, Showcase!

Rush Hour – 10pm on CBS – Series Premiere

The popular feature film franchise is adapted for television with Jon Foo as Detective Lee and Justin Hires as Detective Carter. That’s everything that you don’t already know.

Banshee – 11pm on HBO Canada – 4th Season Premiere
