This April, VIVA features film adaptations of much-loved novels and plays every Sunday night, including the premiere of Jane Austen Book Club, starring Emily Blunt and Maria Bello, and Silk, the romantically charged drama starring Keira Knightley and Michael Pitt. Plus, viewer favourite series Spain…on the Road Again returns and VIVA celebrates Easter with a Good Friday event featuring mini-marathons of Fearless in the Kitchen and Cold Case.
GOOD FRIDAY
On Friday, April 2, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. viewers can enjoy VIVA’s Good Friday programming marathon. The marathon features back-to-back episodes of Fearless in the Kitchen from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by the one-hour Martha Stewart Special: It’s Spring from Martha’s Garden and finishing with a Cold Case mini-marathon from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
MARTHA STEWART SPECIAL: IT’S SPRING FROM MARTHA’S GARDEN
In the one-hour special It’s Spring from Martha’s Garden, Martha Stewart invites viewers to celebrate springtime with her and some of her special guests. Audiences can tune in to get delicious springtime recipes including her vegetable risotto, savoury pudding and rhubarb shortbread. Plus, Martha demonstrates how to decorate desserts using pansies and other spring flowers. Catch creative and delicious recipes for Easter dinner with It’s Spring from Martha’s Garden airing on Friday, April 2 at 2 p.m.
SPAIN…ON THE ROAD AGAIN
This spring, viewers have a chance to relive Gwyneth and her friends trip through Spain when the popular series, Spain…on the Road Again returns to VIVA. This unique 13-episode series follows Academy Award-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow, celebrity chef Mario Batali, celebrated cookbook author and New York Times columnist Mark Bittman and Spanish actress Claudia Bassols as they embark on a one-of-a-kind culinary and cultural tour of Spain. Each hour-long episode acts as a travelogue for the foursome as they visit a new locale and setting including local farms, markets, factories and wineries. Viewers can get reacquainted with the country’s culture when Spain…on the Road Again returns Sunday, May 2 at 2 p.m. (r) 5 p.m.
MEDIUM – SEASON PREMIERE
This month, seasons 2 and 3 of Medium, the critically acclaimed crime drama starring Emmy® Award winner Patricia Arquette launch on VIVA. In this series, Allison Dubois (Arquette), a young wife and mother of three girls, is a part-time consultant to the district attorney’s office who uses her psychic abilities, including vivid dreams and communicating with dead people, to help solve criminal cases. Allison struggles to balance her supernatural life and her home life with the help of her supportive husband, Joe (Jake Weber). In the first episode of the second season, Captain Push hovers between life and death, as Alison must figure out the clues before another murder. Seasons 2 and 3 of this exciting, hour-long dramatic series airs Mondays to Thursdays at 9 p.m. beginning Monday, March 29.
