Movie Central and The Movie Network Announce Premieres of MASTERS OF SEX and CALL ME FITZ

Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada) and Bell Media’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) bring blockbuster entertainment this fall with the highly anticipated Showtime one-hour drama MASTERS OF SEX, premiering on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET. The Canadian Screen Award-winning twisted comedy series CALL ME FITZ launches a fourth season full of laughs, beginning Monday, Oct. 7 at 9 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET. Both series join a full schedule of the best in Hollywood films, Canadian features, and Pay TV specials on Movie Central and The Movie Network this fall.

MASTERS OF SEX stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan, who portray real-life pioneers of the science of human sexuality, William Masters and Virginia Johnson. The 12-episode series chronicles the unusual lives, romance and pop culture trajectory of Masters and Johnson. Their research touched off the sexual revolution and took them from a mid-western teaching hospital in St. Louis to the cover of Time magazine and nearly a dozen appearances on Johnny Carson’s couch.

MASTERS OF SEX marks Emmy® and BAFTA Award nominee Sheen’s first regular series role for television. The series is an adaptation of Thomas Maier’s book Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, The Couple Who Taught America How To Love. The pilot episode was directed by Academy Award® nominee John Madden (Shakespeare in Love, and the current hit indie film The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), who also serves as executive producer, and also stars Caitlin Fitzgerald (It’s Complicated), in the role of Masters’ wife, Nicholas D’Agosto (HEROES) and Teddy Sears (AMERICAN HORROR STORY). Emmy® and Golden Globe® award-winning actor Beau Bridges and Margo Martindale also appear in the pilot.

MASTERS OF SEX was created and executive produced by Michelle Ashford (THE PACIFIC). The series is executive produced by Timberman Beverly Productions’ Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman, and Judith Verno. Michael Sheen and Tammy Rosen are producers. MASTERS OF SEX is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

Starring Jason Priestley as Richard “Fitz” Fitzpatrick, a morally flawed car salesman, CALL ME FITZ returns for a fourth season, but things have changed. With a new baby in the house – Elaine’s swinging party pad, no less – Larry thinks it’s the perfect time to dig out the family photo album, empty old boxes in the basement, and discover what made the Fitzpatricks the class-A derelicts they are today. Every new piece of the Fitzpatrick past that Larry uncovers sheds more light on the family’s twisted history, while fueling the dysfunctional fire between them and, in the end, unearthing a nemesis hell-bent on eradicating the Fitzpatricks and their way of life.

The nine-episode fourth season of the made-in-Canada half-hour comedy guest stars Michael Gross (FAMILY TIES, Tremors) as family nemesis Pat Childs. The ensemble cast also includes: Peter MacNeill as Ken Fitzpatrick, Fitz’s father and patriarch of Fitzpatrick Motors; Tracy Dawson as Meghan Fitzpatrick, Fitz’s shrewish younger sister and thorn in his side; Donavon Stinson as Josh Mctaggart, the Fitzpatrick Motors in-house auto repair and wildcard; Kathleen Munroe as Ali Devon; Jonathan Torrens as Chester Vince; and Joanna Cassidy, who returns as Fitz’s mother Elaine Fitzpatrick.

The series’ Canadian Screen Awards include Sheri Elwood for Best Direction in a Comedy Program or Series; Joanna Cassidy for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Supporting Role or Guest Role in a Comedic Series; Tracy Dawson for Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Comedic Role, and Ernie Grunwald for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Supporting Role or Guest Role in a Comedic Series. Series star Jason Priestley recently took home a Golden Nymph Award at the 2012 Monte Carlo Television Festival for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series and a 2011 Canadian Comedy Award for Best Performance by a Male – Television.

CALL ME FITZ was created by Sheri Elwood and then developed by Amaze Film + Television. The series is produced by Amaze, Big Motion Pictures, and Entertainment One, with the participation of The Movie Network and Movie Central. Executive Produced by Sheri Elwood, who is also the series Show Runner, the show is filmed in Nova Scotia. CALL ME FITZ currently airs on DirecTV in the U.S.

In Western Canada, episodes will be available in High Definition on Movie Central HD; On Demand, via mobile and online with participating service providers.

In Eastern Canada, episodes will be available in High Definition and on TMN GO, The Movie Network OnDemand and TMN OnLine.
