Movie Central and The Movie Network Get Covert with the Original Suspense Drama, Rogue

Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada) and Astral’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) are going Rogue with the debut of their thrilling new original drama. The 10-part, one-hour series stars Thandie Newton as Grace, a morally and emotionally conflicted undercover detective who is tormented by the possibility that her own actions contributed to her son’s death. The first hour of Rogue is now available as a free sneak peek across multiple platforms, and the series premieres with two back-to-back episodes on Wednesday, April 3 at 9 p.m. ET/MT, day-and-date with DirecTV’s Audience Network in the U.S.

“It’s been great working in collaboration with the talented and creative production team, partners and cast involved with Rogue,” said Jocelyn Hamilton, Vice President, Original Programming, Kids, Comedy, Drama, Corus Entertainment“We can’t wait for viewers to experience this thrilling and compelling drama.”

Rogue is crowd-pleasing, edge-of-your-seat television that is sure to captivate audiences every week. With first-rate production partners and a stellar cast led by the incomparable Thandie Newton, we’re proud to bring this original series to our subscribers on April 3,” said Aubie Greenberg, Director, Original Programming, Movie Services, Astral Television Networks.

Grace Travis (Newton) is a wife, mother of two, and Oakland’s best undercover detective. She’s adept at transitioning between suburban life and the docks where she’s been embedded for months with a criminal enterprise run by James “Jimmy” Laszlo (Marton Csokas) and his sons, Max (Matthew Beard) and Alec (Joshua Sasse). When Grace is abruptly pulled out of the field when her son is killed in a drive by shooting, her life is shattered.

Four months later, the investigation into the death has gone cold and Grace, guilt-ridden and unable to accept the loss, has begun to search for answers. With the help of her mentor, Mitch (Ian Tracey), a link is uncovered between the death and Laszlo’s organization. Unable to convince her superiors that she is fit for duty, Grace goes rogue slipping back undercover as “Jackie Hays” in Laszlo’s gang.

Rogue also stars Leah Gibson, Ian Hart, Kavan Smith, Claudia Ferri, Jarod Joseph and Martin Donovan.

Shot in Vancouver in 2012, the series is a Canada-UK co-production from independent studio Entertainment One (eOne) and Greenroom Entertainment, produced in participation with The Movie Network, Movie Central and DirecTV. Rogue is executive produced by renowned UK producer/director Nick Hamm for Greenroom Entertainment; John Morayniss and Michael Rosenberg for eOne; and Steven Marrs from Momentum Entertainment Group. Series creator Matthew Parkhill (The Caller) serves as writer and supervising producer. eOne handles worldwide distribution.
